Dallas sports radio station 1310 KTCK "The Ticket" midday host Bob Sturm ... a big Liverpool fan and sometime-color analyst for FC Dallas broadcasts ... mentioned the DFW AO upcoming WP in his blog today!

Look below the entry about Liverpool getting Keane. Wish he'd've put in more of the detail I gave him, but it's a start!
For you Washington, DC residents:
What is your recommendation for hotel general locations ... Rosslyn area or Dunn-Loring? I've heard good things about both, and Dunn-Loring appears to cost ~$20 per night less ($10 or $7 depending on how many share the room).
Proximity to probable night-before locations, traffic, public transit, etc. considerations?????
You can literally see DC from Rosslyn (right across the Potomac, one stop away). Dunn-Loring, not so much (you're out in suburb hell, but maybe that works for you).
The DC AO peeps are already working on stuff for Cuba game at RFK (including hotel). Sit tight, info coming soon.

Ok. Who's looking for places for supporters to gather pre and post game? Keep in mind I'm a suburban mom who's out of touch with downtown locales, so I'm not the best for picking these places out. In the past, we've gathered in places near Capital Hill and Chinatown. The unifying aspect of each place has been subway proximity. I only remember the name of one - Gordon Biersch.
I have already posted Three Home WQ (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=708300) that Dunn Loring is in the 'burbs and is not a place I would pick to stay if I could afford someplace closer to town. Crystal City, Rosslyn, Courthouse, Ballston. All would rank higher than Dunn Loring by me. There's not much there in Dunn Loring, but it does have a subway.
Rosslyn is walkable to Georgetown.
I'm like a broken record on this theme. Why save $20 a night when, compared to the total trip cost, it may not be worth the extra time and inconvenience of being so far away. That's just me though.
Try searching for restaurants in that area and you'll get an idea of what it has to offer. I found a closet outfitter, dry cleaners and a pizza place.

The DC AO peeps are all over night-before and gameday fun stuff, so I say let them do their work and they'll let us know in plenty of time.
For now, I say, go ahead and buy your flight.
Reserve rooms at a couple of hotels you think might be good ... it doesn't put any holds or charges on your credit card and you can cancel with only 2 days notice (double-check that, though). Then you have a room for-sure.
Rental cars are cheap on weekends ... mine (Hertz) is only $100 for Fri-Sun. Split four ways including parking and gas, it's about what cabs and rails and stuff would cost ... and you don't lose time waiting.
My $0.02.
Just an update, the game time has been moved to 7 pm (as 7-11 is sponsoring it's 7 pm on the 11th, I'm not kidding!).
The SEs were going to look into more elaborate post-game activities however now I'm thinking people are just going to want to hit a bar and hang out.
Thoughts?
We'll post tgate info soon (we've done huge tgates for Beckham games and MLS Cup so cooking for over 500 people is not a big deal for us). It might be a little too cool for us to bust out the pools and mister but we'll probably have our flip cup table out.

Yes, 4 pm (so that's why we were thinking of some more elaborate post-game event). US Soccer site still says 4 (of course, I hate their site!) but the SEs got word from DCU of the change so I'm passing on so people can plan accordingly.

Hey multiple moderators, if this isn't the place to ask, direct me elsewhere and delete this post:
I won two tickets at last year's MLS cup at RFK to a US team home game in 2008. (Way cool, by the way.) I'd originally picked the US/Arg game at relatively-nearby Giant's Stadium, but the tickets didn't arrive in time, and I bailed, asking if I could redeem the offer for the US/Cuba game at in-my-backyard RFK. (The envelope for the Meadowlands game arrived about two-three weeks ago at my office after being routed through Ohio for irradiation due to precautions put in place after the anthrax incident at the Brookfield mail processing center.)
So should I plan on AO tickets, or should I go ahead and purchase tickets, having blown my rare (heck, unique) good fortune in winning the raffle?
Thanks in advance for your consideration and forbearance.
I can't think of a better game for the Nation's Capital. And whatever the SEs are planning is bound to be special. The tailgates they host are great: Try the veal, and don't forget to tip your server. ;)

Hey Steven,
Yeah, this is the right place. Just email Korey at kdonahoo@theamericanoutlaws.com, and we will get you hooked up. I would hate for you not to get the tickets to a US game, because of a very unfortunate mix up in the mail. Let Korey know the better address to send the tickets too.
I will let Korey know, since he is the one taken care of the tickets this time.
Thanks again,
Justin Brunken

You can bloc us in for two rooms ... I cannot *commit* until we know the hotel and rate, but if it helps your planning, DFW AO will need at least two rooms.

Friends of mine in the Columbus Brigade will need 2 rooms for Fri-Sun. For the moment, I have them booked out near me in Fairfax for a cheap rate, but they're interested in staying closer to the city if the rate isn't too steep.
