Thanks Billy. On the topic of city support. verification that one of the Commish's (rather three of five, come on, one of them is Timbers Army, that's a given, and the other is a long time Timbers fan) is a supporter.

Hi guys! I'm new here, but i love soccer and my team is DC United, USMNT. Anyway, I read the USA Today in the Update section said: USL Portland Timbers owner Merritt Paulson says "he will apply for a MLS expansion franchise that would play at PGE Park in downtown Portland". If that is true then gratz on you Portland fans. And good luck.

Thanks man, appreciated. Hopefully you'll be able to visit when DC plays.

Thanks for the well wishes. Several in our ranks either respect the support in DC or are fans themselves. We would have a good thing if we had anything near what you have had on the field for the past several years.
And since we are getting new people on here and a new incarnation of the thread was just created, I'll again offer this grassroots resource to learn about the MLS bid:

Thanks for the kind words. I think the most appealing part of our bid is just HOW downtown and accessable our stadium is. Visiting fans can litterally fly in and ride light rail to the stadium steps.

Don't want to piss off the mods, but if there is an actual bid why not give portland a forum?

Or take the Amtrak Cascades from Seattle or Vancouver, or the Coast Starlight from anywhere up and down the west coast, or even the train from Chicago - then hop on the new Green line from Union station and ride Max to the PGE Park stop (by 2011).

When is the greenline opening anyway? I know the steel bridge is closed for August while they hook up the new tracks for the green line to the others.

The cool thing is that we don't need a forum here (though it would be nice), our current Timbers forum gets amazing traffic every day. We discuss plenty there.

The times that I have seen the timbers play in all yellow did they just not play in green those years? Was it a third kit or an away kit for that year? On wiki it looks like you’ve had a brown/maroon look this year. Just wondering what you would like/expect your colors to be in MLS. I know you have an all white, I just prefer a little color but I’m not going to put down your tradition.

I know that’s why I posted my good luck to your supporters over there.

Green has been the first color. A forest green like a Tree (get it, and it's the ONLY way). I'm certain this would continue to be the case since Seattle chose that bright Lime Green. The yellow kit and now the "Rose City Red" kit is third kit. White for the away kit.

Our third jersey this year is "Rose" because we are the Rose City. Our color would be Forest green like our current kits I would imagine. I personally love our home uni's and hate our third kits.
EDIT: Marquis its getting impossible to beat you to the punch. I might as well not post anymore lol.

I would welcome a Timbers specific forum here on BS. Plus it would keep all this discussion in a forum and not in a general thread. Keep trolls from invading everything.

Allison has some good pictures of it when we wore it for our exhibition vs. Tigres last Tuesday.

Again don’t want to piss on your tradition with the all whites but those look great. I’d love to see you come in with all green and all maroon kits.
