I just spent 3 hours at 2 different soccer specialty stores with my 14 year old son only to find out that the Pumas (size 9.5) he currently wears are a bit too big for his feet even though this is his normal shoe size. He told me the Pumas were too small and were giving him blisters. The sales guy was nice enough to tell me that his Pumas are too big and that is why he is getting blisters. He recommended using a double sock and polishing up the leather. Since high school tryouts are coming up, we were looking at new boots. He's going to use the Pumas for practices but wants to get new boots as well. After talking to the sales guys the soccer stores, I'm more confused than ever.

1) My son really had his heart set on a pair of F-50s. I don't want to even get into the whole Tunit concept. He really likes his Pumas so I think he should stick with that brand since it seems to fit but kids get caught up in the flashy colors that other kids have.

2) At the first store, my son wanted to buy a pair of $90 Adidas Predators in a size 10 but the sales guy talked him out of it saying that they were too long for his foot. He tried on the 9.5 but said they didn't feel good. My concern is since these are synthetic and not leather, they won't stretch.

3) At the second store, the sales guy wanted to put him in a pair of $155 Nike Ronaldhinos -- he said those and the Adidas Copa Mundials were the only ones that he would recomend for wide feet.

I really want to get the best boots for his feet but am confused about synthetic versus calf leather vs. kangaroo leather. Also, being a busy 14 year old, I'm not sure I want to invest in kangaroo leather that he may not take care of properly and since his feet are still growing.

What brand and type of boots are best for a wide foot? I really appreciate any advice!

As long as Kids are growing, it's very difficult to buy the right shoe...
But for wide feet the best shoe should be the Puma King. I know, it's not a modern boot, but a really good, classic boot perfectly made for wide feet.
I also have a wider feet and I wear the adidas predator powerswerve... but for me the most important thing on a boot is, that I have stability. And for that, the predator is perfect... but cause of my wide feet, it tooks about 2 weeks to break into the boot... but that only happens cause I always took the leather boots! Once I had the synthetic Becks-Predators but for me, they were bad...
I also would NOT recommend the f50... I had huge problems with them...
