here in Florence, both teams had already qualified for the second round so it was just pretty much an exhibition match. Finished 3-3, including 2 full bicycle goals, and a 40 yard bomb from Rivaldo (?)...Both sets of fans we're cheering for both teams, it was great times...

Ajax - AA Gent 1992, march 18. After 3 matches in dusseldorf (because of the so called 'staaf-incident') the first euro match at home since early 89. Orebro, Rot Weiss Erfurt (nazi's) and Osasuna had been put aside by Ajax. At this time I was 12 and didn't have a season tick.

My dad took me for my 12 th birthday (first of the two matches he took me to. After feyenoord - Ajax I was on my own). Greatest atmosphere ever. They call feyenoord the peoples club... back then Ajax was a peoples club as well. One of the most rabid atmospheres I've ever experienced... until...

Ajax - Torino of the same year, UEFA Cup final. Undescribable atmosphere. Looked like the 4th of july. Plus, that was the first season I really saw Ajax win a prize... not knowing what was ahead in store.

Milan-Ajax of last year was also great. We lost, but the sense of pride was so great. If you are heralded at Ajax like that, you are very special.

I'd probably have to say England vs. Scotland, Euro 96. It was an awesome game. Paul Gascoigne scored a beautiful goal chiping the ball over Lee Hendry and volleying the ball past Andy Goram,Beautiful. The atmosphere was electric. That game had the most incredible atmosphere that i have ever experienced.

For me, it was the USA v England match in Foxboro, MA. back in June 9 1993. It was my first ever international Soccer game, I was a little girl at a time with my Dad when USA defeated England 2-0 on Wegerle, Wynalda goal.

For a Sam's section, the US-Jamaica clincher in Foxboro in Oct, 2001 was the best. A combination of the recent 9/11, dire outlook in qualifying, and unexpected joy of qualifying that day had the Army rocking and more coordinated than I can ever remember for a section that size.

US-Mexico in Columbus, despite wrecking my back for three weeks there, was the best stadium-wide US crowd I can think of. US-Jamaica at RFK in 1997 was unreal, both sets of fans were fantastic even if the game wasn't. And, although an anti-US crowd, being in the Azteca for the July 2001 qualifier was unbelievable. US-Iran in France was more bizarre than any other crowd I can think of.

Best MLS atmosphere for me was the 97 final at RFK, DC-Columbus game 3 at RFK in 1999 and the DC-Newcastle match in 2000.

PDL: Des Moines Menace vs Kansas City Brass. It was Saturday 07/13/02. 6,312 people at the game. 2-2 as we hit stoppage time. With seconds left St. Nicholas Benjamin makes an awesome run up the sideline and endline slipping the ball to Boltnar who blasts the winning goal.

MLS: None specific. Most every Fire I have gone too, Section 8s is great.

National Team: USA vs Mexico 03 in Houston. No goals scored but a 40/60 split made for a great crowd.

WCQ: USA vs Costa Rica 2001. Wolff scores in the 70th minute after the USA kept knocking on the door bringing the crowd at Arrowhead into the match.

Leeds 3-0 Deportivo, Champions League quarter final.

Leeds were never expected to get out of the first group stage with Barca and Milan, but we did. Never supposed to get out of the second group stage with Lazio and Madrid, but we did. Deportivo said they were happy to get us in the draw, as we were the easiest team left.

The atmosphere in Elland Road was amazing, you could feel the waves of sound moving through your body from the almost 40,000 Leeds supporters. It started out being amazing and just got better after each goal. It really was magnificient.

1.) US-Mexico 2001-The Cold War:

Absolutely amazing. Being in a pro-American crowd in such a big game, words cannot describe. Everytime they play the National Anthem at Crew games I get a flashback to that night and get chills.

2.) US-Switzerland 1994:

My one and only World Cup experience so far. On the way to the Silverdome there was a huge Swiss flag hoisted by cranes outside the stadium. That pretty much set the scene. The stadium was crazy, my first true international experience.

3.) US-Paraguay 2003:

Had lots of fun with everybody in the North End. Seems like being in Columbus brings out the best in our supporters. Just ask Stewart.

US vs. Costa Rica in 98 WCQ, PGE Park, Portland, OR.

Fans were cheering and singing, all wearing white for an hour before the game, and continuously throughout. you couldnt even hear the announcers over the crowd sometimes. maybe 100 CR fans in the whole place. Vital game, amazing goal from Tab Ramos in his comeback from serious injury (torn acl if i recall) in the 73th minute iirc. i almost cried i was so happy.

1. Albion 2 - Swansea 0
Play off semi-final in division two. I think it's every Albions fans favourite - better than the final itself. No words can explain it so i'll leave it at that but all Albion fans(ones who can't remember when we were good) who were there and the players always say it was their favourite moment.

2. Albion 3 Dingles 2
League match but it was a stormer especially when most derby games are crap to watch. Kevin Donovan scored the winner with a diving header which led to frenzied scenes in the Brummie Road it was about ten years ago so i was only a kid and i would have been crushed against the bars if some bloke hadn't shielded me - it wasn't all seater then - i remember the ground shaking as we 'Boinged' - i saw a picture of the Brummie Road on the t.v from the opposite end of the ground afterwards, and everyone going nuts.

18 months after Reading's manager, Mark McGhee, walked out of his contract to take another job at a club offering more money, potentially ruining the season of a club in its highest ever league position (just imagine if that sort of thing ever happened again, eh?) he brought his Wolves team back to Reading, with Reading needing a win to guarantee staying up.

Reading v Wolves April 97.
Wolves now on the brink of automatic promotion. Leading 1-0 through a dodgy goal with the game into the 2nd minute of injury time, Reading score twice to clinch a 2-1 win - allowing Barnsley to go above them and go up instead. I later heard from someone on the away end that the scenes of celebration & mayhem on the southbank, the main terrace at Reading's old elm park, looked like a giant tin of maggots spilling down the terracing.
