View Full Version : Verizon and Sentanta delayed

I thought this deserved a new thread. I have been reading some posts from other people sying that they are having problems ordering Sentanta from Verizon FIOS. The channle was supposed to start yesterday in my area nd it did not.
I just got off the phone with Verizon and was told that Sentanta Sports will not be available until August 11th at the earliest. This was the latest info they guy on the phone gave to me as he got it. Has anyone else called Verizon about this? This guy said he has had lots of calls in the past 5 days about Sentanta. Was anyone on this board one of hte many, and what response did you get?
I think this is Verizon playing games.

Hey, where are you from? I spoke to a rep here in NY today and she said that while the channel has been listed since 7/23, they were supposed to load the channel today. She then said that it should be ready by tomorrow. I hope this gets sorted out as soon as possible.

I called a couple of days ago to find out what was going on and the guy told me that he's had tons of calls about Setanta and didn't really know but he'll do some research and find out. He actually called me the next day and told me that they were uploading so many channels into the system that it is a slower rollout then expected but Setanta should be up in the next few days. He told me he'd keep an eye on it and call me when he sees it's in the system. We'll see but I beieve him since he's called me back once already.

I am in Northern New Jersey. I am hoping that I can get Sentanta earlier than the 11th so I can see the opening matches of the Championship. But the way Verizon seems to be operating that seems very unlikely.

I was talking to someone at Setanta a couple of weeks ago on another topic, and mentioned that I have FIOS and thought about switching from Globecast, which I also have, and they said that the contracts with Verizon were not all signed yet as of that time. So, probably the thing to do is to call Setanta up 415.546.1022 and ask them the status.

The expansion in our area isnt due until mid-September (21st, if I remember correctly). That's supposedly when we get introduced to the wonders of 4-digit tv channel numbers.

The NY area now has Setanta. After a week of harrassing FIOS reps I got my setanta and am loving every second of it and the season hasn't even started yet. CAN"T WAIT!!

Hey corolla, where in NY do you live? I have been so frustrated w/Verizon FiOS and their lack of info on when Setanta will be available. The only reason I chganged to FiOS was for Setanta. They told me it was supposed to be on as of 23 July, so I placed my order for 26 July. It is now 12 August and I STILL can't subscribe to it. I'm in Island Park. Let me know where you are when you get a chance. Did you have to call to subscribe or were you finally able to order with your remote? I am so close to going through the hassle of switching again and getting satellite. The poor customer service @ Verizon has me really ticked off. The worst part is, I can't even find a way to log a complaint online.

I'm in Jericho, and called yesterday. The lady told me they've been getting non stop calls about this channel and asked what they broadcast. She also added Setanta to my account and I was watching within 20 minutes. Call and order it.

Well, my Setanta is finally on. There's a whole lot of Rugby & Gaelic Football on there.....not really what I had in mind. Guess I should have looked into it more. Has anybody else noticed how bad the FiOS guide info is? Not only for Setanta, but especially so. I don't think anything matches what Setanta shows on their website schedule. Strange. It doesn't show Chelsea vs Portsmouth on the FiOS guide for Sunday @ 8:30 AM. It does on the Setanta site though. Sure hope they're right!
