....is everybody surviving this offseason as well as I am? I certainly hope so. ;)
For whatever reason, I'm still slightly optimistic that we can be our usual over-achieving, scrappy selves this season, despite the losses we've accrued over the last couple of months. With that said, I'm looking forward to posting here more often throughout the season again....hopefully we'll have more positives than negatives to talk about. :)

We're going into unknown territory in a variety of ways:
New manager, untested at this level.
New players from South America, untested in Europe.
New goalie.
We've taken risks this summer, getting rid of players, keeping some and attaining new ones. I fear for our chances of survival this season more than at any time under Sparky. Too many changes at the same time can really unsettle a club.

Yeah there have been a lot of changes, it's one of those seasons that could go either way. For some reason I'm strangely optimistic, although I'd be more than happy to consolidate in mid table this year.

i for one have enjoyed this summer more than the last 3 as there has been plenty to talk about and more to come. as for the season it is a bit off an unknown as we dont know how ince is going to play and we could have 4 more signings come august 16th. all we need now is for the everton tickets to go on sale and ill be all set.

I wish I had your optomism. I feel like I am going to be doing cartwheels around my apartment if we finish in the top 10. 15-10 seems more likely than anything else.
Maybe you are getting more information over there. All that comes out of the talk over here is bad except for our keeper. Give me something to latch on to!

Erm .... the new club shop is good ;)
All I know is that there are a few targets being looked at now, some of which are highly rated. Which is why they're keeping it quiet, so no-one else jumps in ahead of us. That and we alway skeep it quiet anyway.
If he can get the players he wants I woldn't expect a bad season, it'll always be a consolidation time with so many new faces though.
Yeah I'm guessing

I'm so glad the club has regained control of the club shop. The online shop, which is so important to those of us in the states, has been nothing short of an embarrassment over the last couple of years.

had a trip to the club shop last week. much improved and we do get this key thing were you get points on which you can get items at discount prices. only disappointment i was planning to go into blus bar for a meal and found out it was shut for referbishment.

Actually, after Ince brought in some new blood, I don't feel as bad. I still would like to see us do a little more, but I do feel a LOT better this week as opposed to two weeks ago!

So are we generally in agreement that win, loss, win, loss, win, loss would be a good season for us?

Having no draws would have to be some sort of record. ;)

Fifty-seven is a prime number, isn't it? Is your estimate correct?
Hang on:
38 games. Divided by two = 19
19 times 3 is... fifty-seven.
Sorry, you were right. It IS fifty-seven. Apologies. Oh well, at least I showed my working out - you probably used the calculator. ;)

I think that we will do the same thing we always do: win the big games and lose to the dregs. New names, same old club.
BTW, the "going commando" was hysterical.

Only took me seven minutes to sit here and come up with it.

I must say the Hughesy void had me well depressed and therefore hadn't posted anywhere for awhile. I'm gettin that ol' joie de vivre back and am ready for the season. Getting a RB cover, some middle midfielders has definitely bolstered my estimation of where this team can/will go. Just hope the Ince/Knox/Winterbourn/Mimms coalition can bring out the best in our boys. I see a Top 10 finish in the cards, myself.
And Rev it took you 7 minutes to figure that quip about the Draws...it took me a fair few minutes to figure out what everyone was laughing about...I had a bit of a thick moment there...
But let's get ready for a very interesting year, folks!
