The last bit of the article:
This will almost certainly include entrance into U.S. markets, where the most obvious competition lies with the Spanish-language Fox Sports en Espanol and the Fox Soccer Channel. Planteta Futbol would essentially merge these two concepts into one.
What on Earth does that last sentence mean?

Planeta Futbol is owned and operated by the Televisa/NewsCorp alliance as a Satellite TV-ONLY network in Mexico (distributed by SKY Mexico). That alliance bought the rights to La Liga in Latin America for the current contract cycle (and sold the 3rd and 4th choice matches to ESPN Latin America).
Televisa would have to 1) hold back a bunch of Mexican League matches from Univision Networks, and 2) spend money to acquire rights to products such as La Liga, in order to come up with a version of Planet Futbol that would work for the U.S. hispanic market.
I personally do NOT think that will happen.
Biggest reason: neither Televisa nor NewsCorp have any distribution systems (cable, satellite, or telco) in the U.S. NewsCorp sold its interest in DirecTV to Liberty Media a while ago.

So basically, you need to:
1) Live in Mexico
2) Have satellite
In order to watch this channel?
Doesn't sound like a big deal for now.

I thought ESPN Latin America had restricted rights That explains why during the ESPN's telecast of La Liga matches why the Latin American stations droped off when a Real Madrid or Barcelona are playing, often they have a splash screen at half time saying Real Madrid/Barcelona coming up next ESPN Pacific Rim Only, I am lucky that my ESPN has the big games can not wait until the new session
