A new thread for today's game!

As mentioned previously, the Aztex regular-season record against Laredo is 2 wins, 0 losses. Here's hoping they make it 3!

I won't be able to make it down to Mother Egan's for the match, unfortunately. The same scout camp that gave me an excuse to roadtrip to El Paso last weekend ends today, and my camper is due home (via someone else's 7-hour drive, thank god) right around kickoff time. But of course I'll be watching online, too, and with you all in spirit!

GO YOU AZTEX!!

P.S. I thought I heard the bartender at ME's say he'd wear an Aztex t-shirt if we gave him one. Not sure if he's working today, but it would be great if someone got one to him. If anyone has an extra, maybe? Or worst case, somebody stop by a Soccer USA and just buy one? I'll pitch in to help cover the cost of outfitting the man who keeps the beer flowing for Chantico's Army!

Johnny's whant for a T is indeed a verafiable fact Twometers, and I seriously recommend that someone in the army GET THE MAN A Bloody T-Shirt :D.

P.S Unless you lot don't all ready know, I also most likely will not be able to attend the watch, due to a family reunion.
But my spirit, and my very lifes force is with you all, and of course the team. And after all it might be pleasing to Chantico, who saw family loyalty as a must, and she will bless the squad as a result of my sacrafice.

Soo goo Reds goo Whites

Go Aztex

Another rain delay tonight wouldn't be surprising (http://www.weather.com/weather/local/USFL0443?from=search_current):

Mostly sunny skies this morning. Scattered showers and thunderstorms developing during the afternoon. High 91F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 40%.

I will be in the house tonight gents. Probably running late due to child care issues.

Laredo was the lesser of two evils last night. I hope the loss of Beto is not fatal.

Go Aztex!!!

Being without Beto will be interesting. I expect Wes Allen and Keiron Bernard in the center tonight. That's a pairing that we've never had before. That'll mean that Zack Pope will be back at his usual right back spot. It was interesting to see him up at right mid last night.

Well, I have some bad news.

Mgrayscale has been in contact with the team, and there are some issues with the live feed tonight. Apparently there were/are some branding issues between the streaming company, the Kraze, and the PDL. Those were the "unforeseen" circumstances that were to prevent the feed yesterday. After long discussion, they were thought to have been worked out (hence yesterday's broadcast), but there were lingering issues that are preventing tonight's broadcast. It is POSSIBLE they will be resolved in the next 2 hours, but it seems extremely doutbful.

Nevertheless, mgrayscale and I will be at Mother Egan's receiving texts from the crew in Florida and posting them to both BigSoccer and www.chanticosarmy.com as we get them. So you will be able to follow the action, if not live, then with fairly minimal delay. If the stream comes back up, we will have it on a TV at Egan's.

I would like to stress that this is not the fault of Aztex, and they're as gutted as we are.

So go you Aztex, and we'll see you either online or at Egan's later this evening.

Welcome to the forum Pete!

You are welcome to join use at Mother Egan's, although the loss of tonights webcast is gutting. However, we're still going to be there in the event the webcast somehow comes back. We're usually in the back, so come in and introduce yourself around. We've had several family members of players join us (we had Josh Alcala's family last night) on and off, and would love to add another.

Oh for the love of Chantico!

How is grassroots soccer going to grow if the powers to be (the streaming company, the Kraze, and the PDL) can't be able to help broadcast the events for those unable to make it to these games? UGH! Anyway regardless if the broadcast is going to be resolve itself or not I will be at ME in less than an hour.

And Pete, welcome to the forum and I hope to see you there at the pub cheering for your brother getting a clean sheet/shutout and an AZTEX's WIN. :)

Exactly, don't these clowns realize that streaming the game is in their long-term interest? For short term greed they are going to stick it to the people who are the foundation of their long term growth and success.

This is bad business.

One thing that I do want to clarify is that Lee Cohen (Director of the PDL) did everything he could to get this resolved. From what I hear, Lee had a significant role in getting last nights match broadcast.

I'm at Mother Egan's now, drowning the sorry of no video with the boys behind the bar.

In the first minutes of the game, Jorge Vega has been sent off FROM THE BENCH. Apparently there was an altercation and the ref didn't like what he had to say...

*cue "You Don't Know What You're Doing"*

We're 10 minutes in, and playing well according to those there.

The game is apparently VERY chippy, and Laredo is getting called for some diving.

TIme is around 27 minutes.

Still 0-0

1-0 AZTEX!!!!

Jaime Watson on the PK! Ezzy got fouled in the box to create the opportunity.

And AJ has been sent off for a hard foul or possibly some mouthing. It was his second yellow. Apparently the Heat are getting into our lads' heads.

Update from the pitch:

At the half, it's still 1-0 Aztex.

The officials are crap. Miguel has been a warrior. Only one shot on goal thus far, but he saved it. Laredo is getting in our heads, and the reason Jorge got sent off was some timely "advice" to the ref. One of the big concerns: Josh Alcala's knee is bothering him, so he may well come off at half-time. Matt Gold also got knocked in the head, but he should be okay. The officials were getting stick from both groups of supporters. Possibly not as bad as Atlanta, but certainly El Paso bad (credit mgrayscale for that analogy, and transcribed update from Kay Rawlins).

There's maybe 100 people at the pitch. Adrian is in the lockeroom doing the halftime pep talk. Hopefully the lads will get their heads in the right place for the second half.
