You said the same to TOLH 2 days ago.
The way I see it is that you guys clearly have a very strong side on paper, now you have a good manager too, and bar the last few games you've had a successful start to the season, in comparison to recent years. Overall i'd say Dortmund and Stuttgart are about equal in terms of talent. And you guys have home advantage.
So i'd be willing to say that you guys are the favourite for the game, only just, and we will then see what happens.

And I was right. Did you see any of that match last night? If Berlin could have finished a bit better, they win that match 3-1 after 90 minutes.
Their own pathetic finishing beat them, not us.

The same Hoffenheim team that thumped Dortmund last weekend were just dumped out of the Pokal by Freiburg, so it seems fairly safe to say that nobody knows what will happen this weekend, especially given the ongoing schizophrenic nature of our beloved Schwaben.

I never said Dortmund would lose this match. I only said "We shouldn't be scaring anyone right now."
If you'd seen every Dortmund match, you'd know what I'm talking about.
And we shouldn't be scaring anyone. Least of all you guys. But if VfBStuttgartFan wants to put down your team's chances, that's his perrogative.
You bring up what happened to Hoffenheim.
That Hoffenheim team simply let the Dortmund match to go their heads. And it got them beaten.
They made the same mistake Dortmund did against them. They underestimated their opponents. They did not start two of their best players in the Dortmund match, Luiz Gustavo and Demba Ba. Gustavo was out injured and Ba started the match on the bench, only coming in after halftime.
Their midfield just isn't as strong without Gustavo there doing the dirty work to keep Carlos Eduardo concentrating on offense.
VfBStuttgartFan talked about how we have a "strong team on paper." As if you guys don't.
And both sets of fans should know that the matches aren't played "on paper."
I know anything can happen in this match. As I said, I never said Dortmund would lose. I just said "we shouldn't be scaring anyone right now" and I stand by the comment.
Two teams made us pay for our pathetic, mistake-prone midfield this season. Udinese and Hoffenheim.
Leverkusen and Berlin should have beaten us too. Both fell victim to their own pathetic finishing, not anything we did to them.
Cottbus should have at least drawn with us. Same thing. Their own pathetic finishing.
Schalke fell apart under the pressure and we had some help from the referee to get that draw.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy we have the points we do, but if you've seen me post here often enough, you know that I am brutally honest when it comes to this game and especially my own favorite club.
We are lucky to be where we are right now.
Dortmund has the same problems we did last season. Our midfield (except Tinga) and strikers (except Frei) are not that great.
People blame the goals being leaked on the defense and except for Subotic's mistake against Berlin, that couldn't be further from the truth. Dortmund leaks goals because the midfield does next to nothing to stop the other team's attack, allowing the defense to become overwhelmed.
Trust me, if you guys can control the midfield and get anything from your strikers, you should win this match.
I won't say you guys will win because Rainer24 is right. Anything can happen. Especially when our two clubs meet.
I just hope it is not decided by the referee.

I've seen at the very least the highlights of every Dortmund match. I wouldn't say that BVB 'Scares us' right now, it's not a question of being scared. We've won 4 of our last 5 matches and have played solid. But I do rate your side. And if you look at it, we haven't been all that convincing either. Our only really good games so far have been against Gladbach, where we still could've come out with a poor result if it wasn't for Lehmann, and against KSC. But i'm still pleased with the season so far as we've gotten the points and progressed in our competitions. You guys are in the same situation: haven't played brilliant but you're not far off the pace at this point. And you're going to have home advantage. And if Bayern and a very strong Schalke side couldn't pull off a win in Dortmund, I won't go out and say that our team should expect to beat you.
And we shouldn't be scaring anyone. Least of all you guys. But if VfBStuttgartFan wants to put down your team's chances, that's his perrogative.
Nah, i'm not putting anyone down. I'm being realistic - a match away to Dortmund is never an easy match. Never has been once since i've been a fan.
VfBStuttgartFan talked about how we have a "strong team on paper." As if you guys don't.
Yup I did. I also wrote that I consider 'Our teams to be about equal in terms of talent'. Give or take a little.
Two teams made us pay for our pathetic, mistake-prone midfield this season. Udinese and Hoffenheim.
While I wouldn't have called your midfield pathetic so far, we also must point out that the midfield has been our weak point too up to this stage. We have an excellent attack, a very strong defence, and an OK midfield. No start creator yet unfortunately. :(
Leverkusen and Berlin should have beaten us too. Both fell victim to their own pathetic finishing, not anything we did to them.
While Leverkusen certainly missed many chances in that first game, I still believe your Dortmund side played very well in that first game. I remember them having in my eyes one of the most impressive performances of any team in the first round. And Leverkusen naturally have a very attacking style, you guys stayed back and scored your chances so fair play. As for the Hertha game, I only saw Konferenz but it seemed a pretty equal match in which either team could've won. Turned out you won, but had you lost it would've been classified as 'unlucky' just as through winning you classify it as 'lucky'. Could've gone either way, in the end it went your way.

Well, in theory, any side that controls the midfield should win the match they are playing. but our midfield has been our weakpoint as well. Pardo is still injured at DM, Hilbert's been out of form at RM and probably won't even start, Lanig is a solid guy to take his place but not a wizard, and we still don't have a creator constantly churning out chances every match.
I won't say you guys will win because Rainer24 is right. Anything can happen. Especially when our two clubs meet.
Yup, and I won't say we'll lose. It's open possibilities. But if I had to pick a favourite would be you. I'd say 35% that BVB win, 40% draw, 25% that VfB win. It'll be very close.
I just hope it is not decided by the referee.
Me too. :)

Well, after 20 minutes, footyfan already lost his wish not to have the referee mess up, though I doubt he minds as the ref. gives Dortmund a goal that came about through an obvious foul on Lehmann in the 5-meter-box. I doubt he footyfan minds this though.
********.
2-0, just what I hoped wouldn't happen. ********ing idiot ref, most would've given that as a foul even OUTSIDE the 5 METER BOX - INSIDE ITS ********ING OBVIOUS.
I'm so pissed.

I actually agree with you and I do f#cking mind. I don't want to see my team get ahead on s#itty refereeing decisions.
I'm f#cking offended that you would even insinuate that shit.

You obviously shouldn't be offended as it was meant as a joke.
That dumb decision was no joke though.
I hope you guys don't completely rout us now. We need a goal soon.

There's nothing in your message that shows me you were joking. Not a smiley, nothing.
I'd be pissed off if my team just got screwed like that too.
And as you can see, we aren't strong enough offensively to "rout" you guys.
I will say this is the best I've seen us play in a first half since the match at Cottbus.
But we haven't been able to put together 90 minutes like that yet this season.
I told the guys on our list this will still be a battle. I believe that.

The only positive thing I can say is that elsewhere Bayern is losing.

I'm really ********ing pissed. What annoys me is that WE FOR SOME REASON can never score by ramming into a keeper and having it count. Seems to happen to everyone now and then, except for us. I'm mad because I see nothing to suggest we'll come back, and we've now ********ing lost this big game in the first 20 minutes.

And that ref. now even booked Lehmann over a discussion.
I'm guessing Jens let him know exactly what he thought of that decision...

Only a Premiere Konferenz.
Anyway, 3-0 now, Dortmund playing great and destroying us. Well what can I say, game was decided early on, it's just really frustrating.
And to think I was confronted for suggesting we'd be the outsider in this game.... we've been more than an outsider.

That's what Lehmann said after the match. And I agree with him there.
However, the Dr. Brych made at least two bad decisions that cost us goals too.

Dude, that's the first time Dortmund has played that well all season. You're f#cking right I "confronted" you.
I at least backed up why I felt the way I did about my team. You just bitched the entire time.
I guess now you're happy to be right?? I'm happy I was wrong.
Dude, I understand that you're pissed off, but get real man. You guys didn't play that badly, we were just better.
And no one is more shocked about that than I am.

Puma just delivers the goods for Stuttgart every time.

I feel really bad for Lehmann. :(
Good words after after the game about the ref:
"The man gives his best. If I give my best and it is not enough I am gone sooner or later. I think it is the same with referees.."
He even shook hands with the guy afterwards. Really horrible game by the ref with lots of mistakes on both sides. I hate when the refs make decisive decisions and this was the case because Stuttgart had practically lost the game after 30 minutes. Had this happened after they were, say, 4-0 down in the 80th minute one could have said it didn't matter anyway but the 2-0 did matter. Oh well, Stuttgart does have an attitude problem. They metally collaps everytime the are down more than one goal while others still fight until the end. Sure, Werders defense for example is horrible. It is nonexistant. But at least they score enough goals (most of the time).

[QUOTE]Dude, that's the first time Dortmund has played that well all season. You're f#cking right I "confronted" you.
Again, I disagree that that was the first time they played well this season. Personally, I believe they also played impressive games against Leverkusen and Bayern at the start of the season, and that the Hoffenheim result has made people overly skeptical about the potential your team has, which I rate and have rated all summer, as very high.
I at least backed up why I felt the way I did about my team. You just bitched the entire time.
Not true - I wrote a long post about why I felt the way I did just last night. You never answered to it, and I don't mind that anyway, but don't say I just bitched the entire time when you can go back 1 page and read exactly what the reasoning behind my pre-match thoughts were.
I guess now you're happy to be right?? I'm happy I was wrong.
Yeah i'm thrilled.
But what am I supposed to do? We've had a solid start to the season, but i've never seen us as a superstar side, for me this team is a Uefa-Cup(oops, Europa Cup...) place contender and not much more, which still isn't bad but isn't great, and the two times we've played very strong sides this season we've lost, and it's a shame. But surely you can't hold it against me now that my guesses have been correct.
I think we'll be the favourites when we see each other again in Stuttgart, but on this occasion I figured you guys would be better equipped to win in front of your home crowd, and you team proved that this afternoon.
Dude, I understand that you're pissed off, but get real man. You guys didn't play that badly, we were just better.
Yeah, definitely, you guys played well, just as I expected you to. And it's a shame that at the moment we can't keep up when a side decides to play really well against us. Leverkusen played really well against and you guys did, and we've lost both times. I see a game like Bremen and Hoffenheim and i'm thinking both these teams would've kicked Stuttgart's ass today.
And it's a shame because these are sides(well, not really Hoffenheim, they've surprised me but I don't expect them to challenge for Europe yet this season...) that i think we'll be directly competing against come the end of the season.
And we'll need to step up in order to reach our goals, because this is not quite enough yet.

Our midfield still sucks. Hitzlsperger is good, but Khedira is still young and Hilbert is not in form. Nobody else is worth much of a damn. When Pardo isn't available, we aren't very good.
