Has he scored 3 or 4 goals already? What is this form problem you all talking about, he's scoring like mad just like the previous 2 seasons. I only wish he didn't get injured during the season, he would score +30 goals a season.

Yeah, Mario just needs an extended run of good health.

And I can't f#cking believe DSF is showing the meaningless Hertha match instead your match!!
Best of luck!!!
I've read that Györ didn't answer the calls of German TV. The local newspaper said that SWR wanted to broadcast the game, but never heard of the Hungarians.

Wow, that was not more than a cakewalk for you! :) Congrats!
Damn, is it really so easy to qualify for the UEFA-Cup nowadays...? ;)
PS: Nice to see Martin score his 1st goal.

Anyways, Stuttgart should definitely win this game. Asked something before, but had to edit since I already found the answer.

Pretty easy draw, we got lucky, there were two teams left: one was Twente, the other was this Bulgarian side(who i've never heard of before this draw, can't say anything about them). Twente would've been a tough draw, this is much more manageable.
Should be an easy first round, but of course we'll just have to wait and see until the first leg takes place.
My ratings for yesterday, as Kicker haven't provided any yet:
Jens Lehmann: 5
Arthur Boka: 3.5
Matthieu Delpierre: 3
Serdar Tasci: 3
Ricardo Osorio: 3
Pavel Pardo: 3.5
Thomas Hitzlsperger: 2.5
Martin Lanig: 2.5 (Man of the match).
Yildiray Basturk: 3.5
Mario Gomez: 2.5
Ciprian Marica: 3
SUBS:
Khalid Boulahrouz: 3.5
Georges Mandjeck: 4.5
Danijel Ljuboja: 3.5
Overall satisfied with pretty much all the players. Lehmann, with that gaffe, is an obvious exception, and I hope we'll see only his good side in the coming games. Hey, at least he made an error like that when we're 4-0 up rather than in an important BL game.
The defense was good - I was really happy when Boulahrouz came in, he seemed perfectly fit and ran well, fought well. I liked it when we took Boka off and then played the second half with Boulahrouz on the defensive wings. If Magnin isn't fit against Hannover, which I doubt he will be, I'd like to see Boulahrouz start that game in place of Boka as that's one way to have all our strong central defenders in the starting side(Boulahrouz, Delpierre, Tasci).
Lanig played really well imo. Scored a very nice header, made some good passes, set up Marica for a great chance at one point. He definitely has strong technical ability. He used his chance in the first 11 well and I think after this performance he pretty much has to stay in the starting lineup for the Hannover game. Hilbert I guess will have to remain on the bench for that one.
Basturk was alright but I still clearly prefer Simak as our creator so far, as he's simply been more creative. Basturk has nice technique, but he very really creates a great chance for us.
It was nice to see Mandjeck come in, but he played poorly and isn't ready to play regularly in our side just yet. We bought him a year ago at the age of 18, he's been seen as someone for the future for us, a defensive midfielder with a lot of potential. He played convincingly on loan at Kaiserslautern in the second half of last season, and played in the Olympics with Cameroon. If he develops well, he could become a long-term replacement for Pavel Pardo when he retires or moves back to Mexico, probably next summer. But for now he looked nervous and not good enough.

Hannover today
They've been off to a very poor start this season: in the first match they got pummeled 3-0 by Schalke, then their second match they drew 0-0 at home to Cottbus.
They haven't been on form and so this should be a perfect opportunity to let us forget about last week, get our first home win of the season, and remain on track with the early leaders. It's a really important game because we really must win this, no other result should be to be expected imo.
Here's how i'd like us to play:
------------------Lehmann
Boulahrouz----Delpierre---Tasci--------Boka
--------------------Pardo
-----Lanig------------------Hitzlsperger----
------------------Simak
---------Gomez------------Marica
Boulah showed last match that he's fit again and did well in the minutes he got. And if we play him as rightback, we can incorporate him to the squad whilst retaining Delpierre and Tasci. Osorio will have to make do with the bench. Magnin is still not fit so Boka will be the leftback.
In midfield, after Lanig scored and played very well against Gyor he's gonna have to remain in the starting 11 over Hilbert for now, he used his chance midweek. Basturk however continues not to impress me as creator so i'd put Simak back into the starting spot for this game. After all, he's only had one poor game, that wa slast weekend.

Nice result today to bounce back after the loss to Leverkusen last week. I didn't get to see the match, unfortunately, but still the more points we can capture early in the season, the better off we'll be.

Skysports reports that Man City have lodged a bid for Mario Gomez.
And seeing that they offered 30M POUNDS for Berbatov, I wonder how much this possible bid would be for.
I say "possible" because it's only been posted in English places and you know how "reliable" they are.
And they also say City bid for David Villa along with Gomez and Berbatov.
I know they have a lot of Abu Dhabi money now, but I smell a bit of bullshit here.....
What's funny is that the best places to keep up this evening are "Transfermarkt.de" and "Bild.de"
Kicker is pretty slow to react tonight.

I really, really hope this isn't true. Fischer isn't ready. We need to keep Mario for another year.

Well, so far, I've seen nothing official from Stuttgart on any offer. There's nothing in the German news about this. Just a rumor link at Transfermarkt that goes back to the Sky report.
This is all from English sources quoting the new owner of Man City.
I wouldn't worry about anything until Stuttgart says something.
And remember, just because Man City makes an offer, it doesn't mean Stuttgart will take it.

Gotta love ScheissBayern, eh? Dickhead.
Anyway, no need to worry 'bout Gomez, he's staying here this season.
So, on an older note, here's the summary for the Hannover match:
I was satisfied, we knew we had to aim for 3 points, and we got them. The boys started a little shaky and Lehmann helped us out in goal a couple of times (congrats on his first clean sheet since returning to the BL)! But then we generally got better as the first half progressed and then Gomez scored a goal off a corner which gave us the lead. After we were 1-0 we took control of the game, you could tell Hannover's players aren't too confident atm. We had a couple of chances then Lanig won us a penalty with a good move around a Hannover defender, and Pardo smashed it in coolly.
Second half we had chances to bring the score up even more, Gomez could've scored 3 times in that half if it wasn't for Enke. We didn't take our chances, but it wasn't a big deal since Hannover were never really a threat.
Wasn't a brilliant performance overall, but we got the job done.
The defense was mostly solid, although Osorio and Boka can look insecure at times. Boulahrouz made a second half showing and I expect will be a starter by next game, and Magnin also made his return in the second half. When both are completely fit, our back four could look very strong with: Boulahrouz-Delpierre-Tasci-Magnin.
Pardo was my man of the match, making the corner for the first goal, scoring the second, and generally performing well. Lanig had a very strong first half but wasn't as good in the second. Basturk again started in place of Simak and, to be fair, he actually played pretty well. One of his better games for VfB. But I still think Simak could be the better option.
So, important win, we're still keeping up with the early leaders and that's all that matters. Now we've got a little break for NT games, and then I expect us VfB fans to take over Mannheim's stadium for a 'home' against Hoffenheim.
