Good result today :)
I'll let you discuss the game til tomorrow, then close the thread so that someone can make a Ruckrunde thread...
Could you please wait with that until we play our last game of the year against Liege midweek?
it would be more appropriate I think.
Thanks :)

That puto Lucio skated REAL easy from a red card. But all in all it was great to prevent Bayern from winning. My one Bavarian buddy must feel sick right now. :D
Well, much like Manchester United fans, most Bayern supporters have rarely even stepped foot in Bavaria, much less in the Allianz. Your buddy must be one of the few homegrown fans.

What a goal by Khedira (2nd one)! Sensational, goal of the month for sure!
Hopefully, he'll continue like this in the coming months, it will be crucial for U21 national team, if they want to do well in their very tough group at the euros next summer. And I really would like to see him in the senior team soon also, he has bags of potential. Always rated him, a modern DM / central midfielder in the best sense.
We really could do with a player like him in Bremen. Want to sell? :)

Hands off! :D
Sami has been excellent in the past couple of matches. I really hope we can somehow manage to hold onto him for a few years. He is turning into a very good two-way mid. Neither purely attacking or purely defensive, but he can do some damage on either end.
Simak also seems to have found some form in the past couple of weeks.
For my part, I wouldn't mid if we sold either Boka or Magnin in January so we could see more of Träsch. Neither of them has really been any good all year, so why not let the young guy get some more time out there?

Did I mention before that Sami grew up two blocks away from me?

Not that I recall, but that doesn't mean much.
Hopefully the fact that he is about as homegrown as they come will help us keep him.

Of course it doesn't mean much
It's still somewhat of a fun fact. Another fun fact: My mom and his mom were in the same class in school.

I just meant that my not recalling it doesn't mean much as to whether or not you did mention it at some point.
Sami is the most popular guy in Stuttgart tonight. Of course it is cool that you grew up near him.

Not really, since I'm a couple of years older. I've probably seen him on a couple of occasions but nothing more.

Swing by his Mom's house and say "hey, tell Sami great game- the folks on Bigsoccer were quite pleased by his efforts" then give her a hug.

Phew, I had not seen Bayern play for a while now and when I watched them against Lyon I was surprised how nasty they played towards the end. And now this game. Appalling and so are the comments of Klinsmann and Hoeness (at least Franz still got a bit of brain left). It was all Träsch's fault he got kicked, it was not even a yellow card, Lehmann fouled Rensing (even though he did not even touch him. It was a Rensing mistake and the VfB players are not permitted to move aside when he comes off the line nor is it Lehmann's problem when Rensing falls over him. Besides, the goal happened because Rensing did not clear the ball properly. He was never going to save it with our without Lehmann in his way. What an arrogant little twat. He actually said recently he only made one mistake this season and always makes excuses. How is he going to improve like that?) so the goal should not have been given, they don't talk about their offside goal and all the nasty fouls etc. I am quite disappointed in Klinsmann as well. I usually like him but he seems to get poisened by that.. "attitude" they have in this club.
And in DFB Doppelpass (football show on Bayern channel DSF with alki Udo Lattek, Wontorra and other Bayern fans and the occassional non-Bayern fans who tries to avoid total embarassment of the whole round, this time in the form of Harald Schmidt and Johannes B. Kerner) they actually managed to talk for 30 minutes about how unfair it all was and how Träsch should have gotten send off for letting himself be jumped at by Oddo and so forth without mentioning Khediar's fantastic goals for a single time. I almost feel sorry for these people. So pathetic. Unfortunately people watch this shit and a lot agree. It's like the TV version of the Bildzeitung.

Ok, so after everything has settled a little bit and after I have seen the whole game, here are my thoughts:
1) We were the better team throughout the game.
2) We didn't capitalize enough from that dominance, by not creating a lot of big chances and by giving away some of them (I'm looking at you Cacau).
3) Bayern played dirty! One should think that those tactics would be beneath a team like theirs. Van Bommel easily deserved two yellow cards for all the shit he pulled, Lucio should have gotten a straight red card after his check against Marica and I think his foul that caused the injury on Marica was also on purpose and hence red-worthy...it was at least a yellow though but he got nothing for it. And then Oddo...I can't believe how Klinsi can say with a straight face that this wasn't even a card?
It doesn't fcuking matter if Oddo saw Träsch or not. It was clearly dangerous play and if you do something like that you have to make fcuking sure that you don't endanger anyone. Oddo could have beheaded Träsch with that move...if this isn't red I don't know what is. I would have expected sh*t like this from Hoeness, but not Klisni...he has really sunken...
4) And don't give me that bullsh*t about Rensing being fouled on the second goal. We all know that he's sh*t off the line and it showed again. Even Beckenbauer admitted this and he's clearly not in the Stuttgart camp. Stuttgart would have a lot more reason to bitch about the ref, not only because he was quite lax on Bayern's dirty play (did I mention Toni's antics?) but also because of two other scenes: First there was a scene where two Bayern players used their hand in the penalty area (I think it was Toni and Demichelis) with at least one of them doing it on purpose (Demi?) which the ref didn't see. Secondly there was the Borowski goal where Klose was offside. Now to be fair, personally, I think that goal should stand because I don't think that Klose irritated Lehmann, but I'm just pointing out that this decision could have gone both ways and at least all the commentaries agreed that it shouldn't have counted (Sportschau, Sportstudio as well as the press) as opposed to Khedira's second goal which everybody agrees rightfully counted.
Anyway, in spite of all this, you don't hear Stuttgart bitch about the ref, only Bayern. They were fcuking lucky to come out with a point and they should for once accept that.
5) At least Hoeness made it obvious that it's all about whining by bitching about having to play on Saturday after Wednesday's Champions League match vs. Lion. I don't know if Hoeness realizes this, but this is fcuking standard procedure. Nobody has ever bitched about that until now. Stuttgart had to face Bremen on a Saturday after an UEFA Cup match on a Thursday and you know what, we destroyed them 4-1...win, don't whine.
phew...I guess I got a little worked up about the game again, so I'll end my rant here :p
Anyway, what was really encouraging was the way we played. Finally our players seem to have found their belief in themselves again. There was a lot of fast, one-touch play going on on our side. I really think that with this newly found self confidence, we can climb up the table a little further during the second half. The last couple of games under Babbel really left me being a lot more optimistic. Now let's beat Liege to make this a nice Christmas for our players...:D

Their first goal didn't bother me initially, but looking at it again, there's no way it should have counted. You can't really count Klose as being in a passive offside because he clearly tried to play the ball and the flag should have gone up as soon as he moved toward the ball, at which point the fact that he didn't really affect Lehmann is irrelevant.
In the end I am fairly happy with the point because it was one it looked like we were going to lose, and it really would have been a bitter defeat, due both to the opponent and the fact that we were the better team for at least 2/3 of the match. Cacau was pretty poor and it cost us. He completely duffed two very good chances, and more than that, he killed some other really promising attacks with terrible decisions, which is often the case with him.
Overall, I think we have got things headed in the right direction and might make a move up the table after the break.

khedira looked class all game
and gomez looked pretty good as well...why doesn't he play like that for germany?
i think he puts too much pressure on himself, as if he is thinking "im here because everyone expects me to get a goal a game here"
it's not so much the fact that germany don't play the through balls as much
i think some time out of the team is good then he can come back without expectations

Actually, I still think that this is a large part of it and todays game was a good indication for that. Just look at Schweinsteiger (or the entire Bayern team for that matter). I don't recall him playing any through ball. I can only remember one through ball that Bayern played throughout the entire game when Delpierre saved us at the last moment. On the other side, Hilbert, Hitzlsperger, Khedira and Simak constantly tried it. They were mostly intercepted, but they kept on trying and several times it almost worked.
i think some time out of the team is good then he can come back without expectations
Yeah, that's probably also a factor, but I still think that it's mostly that Gomez isn't utilized properly in the NT.

im saying gomez isnt one dimensional so with confidence issues sorted he could do very well and cause very big problems without his favourite style of play used
right now a break from the NT is good for him first

I don't think it's about being one dimensional...maybe I should have pointed that out more. It's just that in the NT, Gomez tries to play the same way as in Stuttgart while the rest of the team doesn't. That's something that needs to be addressed during training. Either Schweini et al should play more through balls or Gomez should be told to position differently.
Generally I think that Löw wants to play a style of football that fits Gomez, but it's not implemented properly by the players. Again, that's something that can be worked out in training.
