You see in my view this not the original point I made when I first discussed the crazy gloryhunters, in my words - I was discussing newly-born Hoffenheim supporters in and around Stuttgart.

Yes, I started to see that we meant different areas later in the discussion.

you brought up the other regions (rightly so) and I will answer your retort to my post later but I need to find like 20 minutes free time first(prolly sometime this evening) as your posts rarely offer the chance for a short response. :)

Trust me, they aren't short for me either. Anyhow, I understand better now that we were on slightly different paths.

But I think we have/had a good discussion going here. :)

So, how do you guys feel about Hildebrand joining the new local competition, Hoffenheim?

Wish him the best.

He's a legend, I was always kinda hoping he would return once Lehmann retires. Maybe he will someday, but no time in the near future now it seems.

He's a top goalkeeper and I think Hoffenheim will benefit strongly from having him between the posts.

It doesn't particularly bother me. He was nearly unbeatable down the stretch for us during the run to the championship, so there will always be fond memories. I wouldn't mind seeing him wear the colors again some day.

With Lehmann having not extended with you guys, I actually thought there might have been a chance Timo would re-join you guys now.

I thought the one thing that would keep him out of Hoffenheim would be another shot with VfB.

Other than that, I thought he was always going to Hoffenheim to play for Rangnick again, although I will readily admit I hoped there was an outside chance BVB would sign him.

Totally agree. I hope Loew will now give him a fair shot at winning back a place on the national team.

I think one day he will.

I've got that feeling as well. He's a 100% VfB man.

Klinsi has also been talking nostalgia in the press ahead of our game against Bayern this weekend, saying how Stuttgart is his hometown, that the most emotional games of his career were in Stuttgart (to be precise he was referring to his last game for VfB and the World Cup third place match) and other stuff along those lines.

Klinsi's another legend, however I sincerely hope he does not have one of these memorable games either this weekend or in the Cup in January.

Yes guys, VfB-Bayern is coming closer...

Isn't it funny that they have a Stuttgart area guy coaching them and you guys have a Munich area guy running your team? LOL!!

How much the Hoff paid for Timo?

And why didnt Timo succeed in Valencia? Is he a big-game flopper?

Valencia released him, so Hoffenheim isn't paying anything other than whatever contract he has negotiated with them.

I think Valencia was just a disaster when he got there last year and it kept him from really settling in, and now they've cut him mainly in a bid to slash expenses.

Yes, Valencia isnīt in a comfortable financial situation
(they have lots of depts even for Spanish standard)
and they werenīt very happy with Timo.

From what i noticed he played very incositant, showed great performances,
especially in the cup semi-finals vs. Barca, but had in other games Piblica-like
blunders, so some Spanish newspapers even doubted, that heīs a German
keeper and specualted, that heīs English. (not very nice compliment ;) )

Well, itīs hard for a goalie without support from coach (especially Koeman with his hate vs. German players) and club. If Hildebrandt gets good support
in Hoffenheim (and i think he will), he should get back to former strength.

Only about twenty-four hours left until kickoff against Bayern. A win here could really turn the season around, and I think we can do it! That really would be exactly the sort of momentum builder we could use heading into the break. At least inasmuch as you can build momentum right before a six-week layoff.

Well, even if we win, no real momentum because Xmas always destroys it. :(

But it would encourage us ahead of the VERY important Uefa Cup match against Liege next week!

We play Bayern again in January in the cup, if I havve to pick i'd rather we win that one than this one. But hey, I don't, so I hope we win both :)

Our main issue going into the match it at leftback. Magnin is still injured and Boka suspended due to five yellow cards - so that's it for our natural leftbacks. So question is, who will play? We could see Tasci move to the left and a Boulahrouz-Delpierre central defence, we could see Osorio move to the left and Tasci or Boulahrouz moving to rightbck with the one staying in central defence to be partnered by Delpierre. Or we could even see Traesch start.

None of them are ideal solutions, and it does complicate things. Tough choice for Babbel and we'll see what he chooses to make of it.

Then, question over the midfield. Pardo is back and surely must start, but who will lose out? Khedira was very good in his place last week and it would be harsh to get rid of him, Hilbert scored last week, Hitz could perhaps be dropped with Sami moving to the left, but since he's our captain and all it might not be wise for such a big game. Kicker has the following:

------Khedira-----Pardo------
Hilbert--------------Hitzlsperger

Basically, the Meister midfield. But Simak has scored two games in a row now, he can't be dropped out of nowhere! It'll be tough.

Then in attack, will Gomez be fit to play? It looks like it, but isn't certain? Who should partner him? Cacau was better than Marica last game but he still sucks at scoring this season. Nevertheless, I think he'd be better for this big game. But we'll see.

So, some hard decisions for the side for Babbel this weekend, we'll see what he makes of them.

Well, I don't think we can move a naturally right-sided player to cover the left. Bayern's left side is much scarier than their right, so I don't think we need to weaken our right.

How much the Hoff paid for Timo?

Not a penny.

No. I believe Timo was a victim of the power struggle that nearly brought the club down last year.

His first crime was being someone other than Canizares.

His second crime was still being there after the guys who brought him in were forced out of power.

I also think being German didn't help his situation at all.....

C'mon. If there's something Ronald Koeman can't resist, it's a German.

I'm not talking about Koeman. I'm taking about after Koeman was ousted.

I know Koeman backed Timo. Geez.

I was being facetious. With Koeman being Dutch, I doubt Timo's nationality really helped him. Then again, it was all down hill for him after Koeman left.
