Alright well if we win tomorrow we move up to 4th! :)

We could really use those 3 points!

We play at home to Liege.

I'm optimistic that we can/will win :)

That makes one of us. I certainly hope you are right.

Home to Bochum should equal three points and a jump up the table, but it's us, so who knows? Here's hoping.

Well, starting soon. :)

Team news:

After Boulahrouz was given the chance to start against his ex-side midweek, Tasci should be back alongside Delpierre today. Interestingly enough, Boulahrouz has had a much tougher time solidfying his place in the first team than I would've expected. Osorio should be back to start at rightback for Traesch, who did a good job in those three games and we'll see more of him in the future. Also, Khedira is fit sooner than expected and should start today, and finally after playing with one striker against Sevilla, we should be back with two, Cacau partnering Gomez up front.

Nothing other than a win here is acceptable. I'm confident we'll get it - match starts in 5.

Very poor first half by us. Still 0-0, but we haven't played well at all, haven't created any chances and haven't even been able to control the match.

We need to do much better in the second half, anything other than a win here is simply not good enoug.

SUPER MARIOOOOOOOOOOO!

FINALLY!

1-0.

I didn't believe in anymore. That was so important! Now we gotta hold on the last 5 minutes!

And as I write this Gomez heads in a second! We're home and dry. :)

Man we made tough work of that.

Full time. Made that much tougher than it should have been. In Mario we trust.

Yeah.

I'm so relieved now. We really didn't play well but all Bochum did was defend so I think we deserved the win overall. It was tougher than expected, but hey, we got what we wanted and that's the point.

4th place now :) so we're keeping up with the pace and that's great news.

And it's vital because our next game, which is midweek btw, is going to be away to HSV! Now we all know that'll be hard!

This match against Hamburg will be the real test...but we're in a good position at the moment, so I guess I could live with a draw.

BTW, interesting to see that Elson seems to get some playing time recently. I wasn't even aware that he was still on our team.

Well, Bundesliga's on again tonight but we only play tomorrow so we can be spectators for this evening. Then tomorrow is gonna be an absolute crunch game. If we win tomorrow, which is highly against the odds, HSv are big favourites going into the clash, then we really can make our presence known near the top of the table. If we'll lose we'll prolly slide back down a couple of places like after the Hertha game. If we wanna establish ourselves near the top of the table we need to get some consistent results, and tomorrow would be a huge result if we could pick up something! But of course i'm always aware that we shouldn't go into the game expecting anything great.

In team news:
Magnin is injured and will miss the game. In a way I don't even mind, because although I like him, he was really, really, really terrible against Bochum, easily the worst player on the field, so I don't mind doing without him this time around. It also means Boka will move back to leftback probably and this would leave space for Pardo to return into the starting 11, which is good news imo.

Interesting is if our lineup is indeed:
-----------Lehmann
Osorio-Delpierre-Tasci-Boka
-----------Pardo----------
--Hilbert----------Hitz
---------Khedira
----Cacau----Gomez

Then, other than Lehmann, every other player will have been from the title-winning side. The title seems like lonnnnng ago, but it's interesting that, even with new buys coming in, sales going out, etc etc., the players who won us the title are still almost all key members of the squad. Everyone other than Hildebrand and Meira.

Just goes to show what potential our squad has if we could really find our top form.

I don't know if there's a VfB supporters thread out there other than this one...so I apologize if I've posted in the wrong place....

Anyone have any info on the various supporters groups in Stuttgart?

I've looked at the Commando Canstatt and Lost Boys home pages, and there didn't seem to be much info regarding membership. I suppose I will just have to go in person. I find sitting and singing in the supporters section to be much more fun than simply watching the game....

I also ask for info because, I'm wondering, as an American if they'd even be interested in having me around. Both groups claimed to be non-political, and only interested in VfB Stuttgart, but for example, on the Commando pages they seemed to have a lot of pro-Swabian anti-everyone else attitude, and on the lost boys site they talked about their "enemies" in other supporters groups...Is there anything to this talk, or is it simply good natured hot air?

My only other experience with supporters groups has been La Barra Brava here in Washington D.C., and their policy was if you wanted to stand and sing your ass off for the team, you were welcome. Nothing else (race, creed, color, age, origin, sex, anything) mattered.

Any input would be appreciated.

if you actually want to join commando cannstatt 97...they charge 25 euro per year. otherwise, they make no exceptions on who can join them.

Difficult game tonight, especially since HSV will still be smarting from that thumping at the hands of the Dorfverein. Makes me feel a bit better about our own 0-0 against them, but away to a motivated team is always rough. They seem to be missing quite a few players due to injury, so hopefully that helps us out a bit.

Speaking of Hoffenheim, is anyone else still disappointed that we let Beck go? He seems to be doing quite well for them. Do we expect returns on young talent a little too soon maybe?

Well, if you remember, I was against that move from the beginning. But it looked as if Beck wanted to go, it wasn't that Stuttgart lost patience. Still, we should at least have demanded more money.

Anyone have any word on the "Possible Hildebrand Return" on a free transfer rumors??

If you haven't seen the rumors and read German, here is an article at Kicker.de. (http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/bundesliga/startseite/artikel/384662/)

Well first of all Lostboys aren't really one of the leading ultras of VfB, they're only known 'cause their site has all the good fan pictures. :D

I just wanted to add that i've had a season ticket for the A-Block for multiple seasons now and stand and sing there at every home game that's played when i'm in Stuttgart. I am, however, not an official member of any ultras group, in fact i'd claim that MOST people in A-Block aren't officially affiliated with an ultras group.

So, if you just wanna go there and sing your ass off for VfB, there's not necessarily any need to join the ultras if you don't want to!

Politics isn't supposed to matter with CC97, but obviously that won't stop individuals from within the group from having their personal viewpoints. I can't say for sure whether it would matter if you're American or not - theoretically, if you can speak German, there shouldn't be any problem.

At the same time however Schwabensturm are, as far as I know, an openly anti-fascist Ultras group, so if you're worried about tolerance but DO want to join a group, maybe you should look into them.

Anyway, 3 hours left 'til a ********ing big game tonight.

Ditto.

I thought it was a crap move to sell him. And he only wanted to leave because he couldn't permanently break into the first team, despite having consistently been better than Osorio!

I think Veh's personnel-decisions are for the most part solid. But he got this one wrong.

And I had been saying for 3 years that Beck was a big thing. Unfortunately, management didn't seem to agree.
