I am going to Costa Rica with my wife from aug 27 to sep 4, 2008.

We got reward airline tickets, so we have the flights, but we need everything else.

What should we do?

We need a good hotel, places and things to see, where to eat, etc...

I would not be against meeting any of you for dinner or drinks, my treat.
I live in the USA, but my wife and I are Peruvian and obviously speak Spanish.

beaches (caribbean, or central pacific or south pacific)
volcanoes (4-5 to visit, great for one day trips)
rain forests (central pacific and caribbean)

they opened a cool place to see frogs, snakes, etc on the caribbean side... it has cannopy tours as well, I`ve never been there, but i`ve heard its really nice

are u looking for a beach hotel, or a city hotel?

LOL :D

Seriously, if you want to see an awesome site, go to Volcán Arenal. There are lots of hotels with direct views to the crater, and on a clear night you can see lava coming down the slopes, it's awesome. And, you can go to the hot springs at Tabacon to get your drink on while soaking. :)

Sounds good.

I wondered, should we stay in one hotel and do some day trips to various places or stay in different places? I don't know where to start, so where is the airport located and where should we go from there?

Not far from the volcano is the stadium where their second division pro team plays. Too much lightning is the only problem.

We had an exchange student from Alajuela last year. We want to schedule our trip to Costa Rica next year around WC qualifying. I also have an exchange sister who lives in Jaco. I haven't seen her for about 40 years, but her sister (former sister-in-law) and mother came to my wedding 26 years ago.

We went to three different volcanoes, thermal baths, white water rafting, national theater and museums. Man, what a beautiful country Costa Rica is. I was also impressed with the food.

Que bueno. I´m in San Antonio Desamparados and watched the food and silverware on the table start jumping for no apparent reason. The epicenter was supposedly in Puntarenas, two hours from San Jose, se we received the shock waves. Phones were down for a bit. Hope everyone is alright.
