Not much in the way of ruffage and vegetables * , as Argentina is a meat lovers paradise . However being a port city and having an urbanized society mainly in BA , there is plenty of seafood as well ..
* yes there are also vegetarians in Argentina

My own personal recipe for "Gazpacho-Gaucho"
1 french or italian bread
4-5 medium tomatoes or 6-7 Roma/Plum style
1 clove garlic
1 cucumber
1 bell pepper
1/2 purple onion
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon sea salt or to suit taste
1 teaspoon ground black or white pepper
1/4 cup red wine vineger
1/4 cup balsamic vineger
1/2-3/4 cup extra virgen olive oil
* about 2-3 cups of water if necessary
* Cilantro garnish
*sour cream
*hard-boiled egg
A blender or a hand-held blender , + a knife for dicing is all the tools needed..
1. add tomatoes and garlic in the blender after removing the butt-core , you may also peel them if you like its up to you
2. add all the seasonings and vineger +oil to blender at high speed for about a min or two.
* 3. you may add all the vegetables to the blender if you like it soupy
4. dice cucumber , onion , bell pepper into very fine pieces so you can add a nice crunch to your soup. separately or mixed in with the final batch.
5. refrigerate minimum 1 hour or overnight for best flavor
The dish is best served cold during very hot summer days on the farm or cattle ranching in Salta , It is amazingly refreshing and satisfying and completely vegetarian . goes well w/ bread
4-6 servings but you'll want more than just 1 trust me on this!...

Some time ago, I came across this webpage (http://www.pasqualinonet.com.ar/) that has lots of Argentine recipes and useful advice. I haven't checked it in a while but it was great help at a time where I was desperate to eat some of our trademark meals.

There's alot more to argentine cuisine than milanesas, fideos con tuco, gnocci, asado, pizza, ravioles etc... but don't get me wrong I love everything i just mentioned. i'm hungry damnit.:p

I just bought a box of mantecol in Toronto. The shop owner was selling the bars for 3 dollars each and I asked how many he had, because he only had three left in the display, he said he still had a box in the back. I said cool I will buy the box, thinking hey this guy has a box of a dozen right so 30 some dollars is cool for something I can hardly get here in Canada. So get this, the old guy comes back from the back of the store with a shipping carton of 2 dozen boxes of 12!!!! I bought the lot.:D That is right this crazy idiot just payed over 400 dollars for mantecol:eek:.
I have enough for a looooong time, now I got to find a way to keep it fresh.

You're crazy man. I bet you in a few weeks you'll be sick of it, or you'll probably end up getting sick.

F&*k a few weeks I can't smell allready without getting a bit ill:D. But hey I'll store it, my family got lots and I have been giving it out at work too.
I think that guy saw me coming and I was going to go to Argentina soon but it fell through because of job related problems and lack of funds. So feeling homesick and seeing this treat I went nuts on the spot, ( my wife is still pissed:rolleyes:).
