This is just to have a bit of fun, and also to see what kind of monicers are floatin around out their for our best boys on the squad

Here's two that I came up with and their connections.

Jamie "Quetzal" Watson

Connection: Quetzalquatal was the god/king of the Aztex who, very King arthur like, dissapeared beyond the sea. A prohpecy was made that he would return as a fair skinned, fair haired man. Jaime is not only a fair skinned and fair haired man, but every time he scores, or has something to do with a goal, even when we loose, it just seemed to me that things seem just a little bit brighter.

This second monicer is just soo much more simple and modern in it's origins that I just couldn't put it along side the origins of Jaime.

Papa Drea vs. Doctor Drea for Beto Papandrea

Just cus it sounds good and it's a simple play on his acctual name. :D

My favorite nickname is for Matthew Gold --- "Chucky" after the infamous knife wielding doll...

Oh. Glad you clarified that because I heard "Chunky" and thought, "That's not a good nickname for a soccer player."

I don't know. When we had John Hartson at Celtic, we used to always call him "fatty". Of course, due to his reputation as a "heavy", we made sure to do so only with many rows between us and the Welshman.

I've decided that it's Jamie "Tintin" Watson:

My wife and son have just found their new favorite player. Of course, who gets to be Snowy? Captain Haggart?

Well, there were times (like toward the beginning of the season) where Jamie seemed to be a little Capt. Haddock toward the referees....

All right I'll take Tintin, I guess Quetzal was just a little too serious. Besides it fits him better :).

Jamie Watson, is a very poor choice. He had his shot...doors were opened for him in the MLS and he had every opportunity handed to him (connections do make a difference). It is time to let other players have a go. Observing Watson, he is a coach's nightmare; very poor sportsmanship, a hothead who has an exaggerated opinion of himself. Apparently he had a terrible reputation as a diver. I personally observed him hacking players in the Houston game and then saw him fly into a rage when they retaliated later on. He blew many scoring chances this season and the coaches helped pad his scoring by having him take the PKs.

I sure didn't notice him diving a lot. And I hate diving, so I think I'd remember. As to his temper. Maybe, but after the first match, it seemed to me he worked pretty hard to control his temper and didn't hurt the team (quite the opposite) to my recollection, so Watson's good with me. Whatever he did before to hurt your feelings is water under the bridge if he can help my Aztex.

Flash - since this thread is about nicknames does that mean you think "Tintin" is not a good nickname for Jaime? I had never seen the character before, but you have to admit the resemblance is there.

I was just remmembering that out of all of our boys only Wes, Alex, and Sullivan don't have at least a suggested nickname. Soo, using the trusty brazilian nickname producer, I came up with the following.

Wes Allen= Alleta

Alex Tapp= Tinhosa

Sullivan Silva = Sulliva

Soo now here is a list of our current line of players, including their nicknames, that have been either suggested by me, or someone else.

Miguel "El Primero" Gallardo

Kieron "Rasta Man" Bernard

Gifton "The Gift' Noel-Williams

Jarius "Juice" Holmes

Wes "Alleta" Allen

Alex "Tinhosa" Tapp

Adrian "AJ" Godbolt

Sullivan "Sulliva" Silva

It's a shame Jamie isn't with us anymore because we could have had:

Jarius 'Sherlock' Holmes & Jamie 'Doctor' Watson.

There's also:

Sullivan 'Silverware' Silva (one can only hope).

Kieron 'The Saint' Bernard
