Our team right now as I type this is losing badly in the third quarter in a freindly against Spain, I have to say this team is not giving me the confidence of a repeat performance from 4 years ago, they look slow to react and don't pass as well.:(

I think the most underrated player in Argentina's gold medal team was the starting point guard, Pepe Sanchez. He didn't do as well as some of the other players at the NBA level, and maybe he wasn't enough of an athlete for the NBA. But he was a great passer and a great leader for the National team.
Argentina brings back some players who should obviously be better than four years ago, like Delfino, Scola and Oberto. Manu is still great and Nocioni is always tough. But, I think they will miss Pepe.

Oh I agree, but for a player like Pepe it was always going to be hard to get minutes in the NBA:(, I think I heard a rumor Delfino was off to play in Russia is this true????

Delfino signed the largest contract in the history of non-NBA backetball. he will gt paid $30 million over 3 years in Russia (and its tax-free)
As for the game, Argentina was a little slow to start, but they ended up only losing by 2. Manu still isn't near 100% and Oberto didn't play. So, there is room for improvement. Plus the game was in Spain. I think we definitely have a chance to be at least on the medal's podium again.

Ha, ha, ha that is what my freind said I only watched until part way through the third quarter and then I heard Manu started the comeback, boy did I put my foot in my mouth:o. Wow 30 million for Delfino, no wonder he got out of Dodge, guess I will go see the Raptors less this season:(.

Bump. The FIBA Americas Championship started yesterday. It's to gain a birth in the FIBA Mundial in 2010. 10 countries are competing and they'll be showing some of the games on ESPNDeportes.
Argentina is Group B and they were suppose to play today against Venezuela.

Cielo bien Celeste

Puerto Rico beat Brasil by 4 points yesterday. Had they beaten them by 6 we would have seen Brasil vs Argentina in basketball today as well.
