as I said in another thread
Essien, Cech and Bridge have all resigned this summer
Ferreria at the end of the season
Carvs and Drogs last summer
I believe J. Cole, Kalou and Terry around that timeline as well
nearly all of the contracts were 5 year contracts as well
it really makes Lamps and Kuntner look a little greedy when they moan about "unfair" contracts eh?
Well the key there may be the everone gets 5 years while Lamp gets only 4, I'd feel a bit slighted.
No one knows really what has actually been going on for the last 18 months but up until spring most media said he was only being offered two last summer, then it was 3 after the season, finally a take it or leave it 4, all less then the 5 everybody else is getting.*
Lampard is rightfully entitled to think he is as or more valuable to the Club so I can see how a player with a healthy ego would feel slighted. I think after Jose left and was hired this summer that certainly now it might be more about wanting to leave, along with feeling a bit slighted. I wish the club would just call his bluff?, offer 5
and see where it falls out this summer
Yes he just turned 30 but he will actually still be 34 when a fifth season would be done and a little benifit of the doubt and exception as to 5 years for a player of his age is not out of order out of loyalty from the Club.
I can see an aurgument for him not wanting to be in a position at 32 or 33 of taking what the Club offers then (and they did try to make Mak reduce his wages last year reportedly) or having to move and adjust for only two or three years so thinking it better to sort it out now so he can relax and finish his career at one club.
* For all the media storys, Lamp's camp was claiming they never actually received an actual "offer" last summer, which they reiterated this spring, though they had said when the season started supposedly without one they wanted to leave it untill this summer

"England midfielder Lampard, 29, has two years left on his current contract and said last week he was content to see out that period of time at the club.
"They don't have to offer me anything so I'll just carry on," he stated.
However, Lampard added last month that he would have liked the club to have offered any such new deal in early June.
"In an ideal world, it would have happened three weeks ago but it is not an ideal world," said the Blues star. "

"Frank Lampard has questioned Chelsea's commitment to keeping him after the club's failure to return to the table with an offer of a new contract. The midfield player suspended talks last summer until the end of this season after he became frustrated by the delay in negotiations, which began before the 2006 World Cup finals.
Behind the scenes, Lampard's representative has been trying to secure an agreement to replace the player's five-year contract, which runs out in about 15 months. Lampard has scored 17 goals this season, including four in the 6-1 Barclays Premier League win over Derby County at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.
Lampard, 29, is thought to have accepted the six-figure salary offered when Chelsea made a proposal last summer, but the parties could not agree on various provisos. The player has since become frustrated by the club setting a timeframe for more talks, then going more than two months without further negotiations. "
"“No step has been taken,” Lampard said. “I've been approached a few times by the club saying they are going to come to me with something and they haven't. That means they're saying they will have to wait until the summer and I don't really know what that means. I said at the beginning of the season I didn't want to talk about my contract because I wanted to concentrate on my football.
“They have made contact, but it hasn't been with any news. If we wait until the summer and nothing happens, I've then got a year left, which is not a position I want to be in.”
"Chelsea have said that they want Lampard to stay but would not elaborate on the reasons for the delay. “I've made it very clear I want to stay here and I want to know what's going on,” Lampard said. “I love playing for this club, I'm enjoying the greatest days of my career. Every time I run out for the club I don't think about the contract, but when I am at home I would like it to be sorted out. It's dragged on this season and that's not ideal for me.”
