Suprisingly and also in certain extend suspicously, Belgium, Austria and the Swiss were the only hosts (all being co-hosts) who didn't make the semi-finals.

Up until the Euro 1976 hosts had to qualify to the top 4 to the tournament that they themselves had prepared (of course only 4 teams went to the finals), but never did any of the host not make it to the semis.

I'm sure there would have been issues about co-hosting the tournament in which the results are clear that a weaker link gets a spot, but I wonder how a host had not a single time failed to qualify during those qualification must years namely from 1960~1976 (France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Yugoslavia).

IIRC, At least for the first 4 of these (not sure about 1976) the host was determined after the 1/2 finalists were known.

That would make more sense and I'm sure '76 would have been the same case.

Thanks for the info.
