Now this may be a dumb question, but I don't understand the significance of this action.

All I understand is that people were chanting "Where were you the 12th?" and it involves the Orange Order.
And that Healy won that battle, in my opinion.

the story goes like this -

David Healy was wearing football boots with N. Ireland flags on them that he was given by his federation as a thank you for being top scorer in the EURO's qualifying.

apparently some Celtic fans seen these as he was warming up.

Healy is a Rangers fan and a section of the Celtic fans started singing 'Where were you on the 12th' which is the marching day. apparently.

so Healy in response mimicked playing a flute as if he was in an orange walk.

and that's the big storm in a teacup..

Maybe this says something about me, but I completely expected this to be some sort of a homoerotic photoshop thread. :D

Well its not Healys first time to do something stupid like this is it.

The history between both religions is fierce and goes back a long way, you can't just tell people to get over it or whatever, it is a big deal to some people.

i'm not saying get over it. what i'm saying is the daily rags made this into something bigger than it was.

Celtic fans were singing 'where were you on the 12th' and Healy reacted with that, obviously idiotic gesture, but at the end of the day its been blown out of proportion.

Stupid on Healy's part, but as said, the papers here do tend to make a big deal out of something miniscule.
