I was in the middle of a U-18 match, nothing going on, good controlled possession by both teams. 87th minute just outside white's 18, a minor scuffel on a tackle. White gets up and uttered "F... You" to the defender. As I stepped in, again "F... You" to the opponent. 3rd man in from red team gives a little push to the linguist for white. I seperate everyone. While issuing a red to the white player, he tells me, "Go ahead and give me a F...ing card." I do, give white a red card and the red player who pushed, a yellow card. While doing this I hear SCREAMING coming form the sideline. "Hey Fat Ass, you're horrible, you're loosing it, you have to card everybody, etc." (I so wanted to wiggle my butt, but didn't.)
Restart takes us straight o the other goal, with the attacker receiving a though ball and dribbling, going to the left of the goal about 1 1/2 - 2 yards from the endline and about 12-14 yards from the goal. Keeper cleans his clock, with a high tackle. I whistle a PK. No card, wasn't excessive, just stupid. Keeper is very upset because "It can't be a PK, he was dribbling out of bounds." Coach yells out the same issue, "Can't be a PK he is dribbling out of bounds away from the goal."
Red converts the PK to go up 3-2. Keeper continues to argue and I pull out my book (to record the goal) and he says, "Go ahead and give me a "F...ing Red." I did and ended the game.
Coach is still on me, so I and my crew stay at midfield for a couple of minutes to let things settle down. We talk over the cards and foul and everyone is on the same page.
Now a few minutes later, as we are doing the paperwork, returning cards, etc., the parents of the linguist come over and continue to berate me about my card to their son. Mom & dad used the F word 2 or 3 times in the initial tirade. I turned and walked away. (According to them, I carded their son because he started over my son in High School. (Our kids apparantly went to the same high school but different ages and never played together.))
I informed the coach that it is his responsibility to take care of the unruly parents. He said, "No that's your job. I have to go to work on Monday, I'm not getting involved in anything." I gave a sarcastic, thanks coach.
I don't have any problems with the game, except, Hey, I've been working out and lost some weight, but apparantly my ass is still too big. It must be the shorts! ;)
