View Full Version : 7/25 Bradenton - Austin (Southern Conference Semifinal)

The Aztex come into this game on a three game losing streak, all on the road, having finished the season giving up three goals, something they'd never done before. Not a very auspicious way to go into their first ever playoff.
The Bradenton Academics are one of the more interesting teams in the PDL to me. They're tied to the IMG Soccer Academy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IMG_Soccer_Academy) -- the place where Freddy Adu spent some time, and many of the other US youth team players. The team has been around for more than 10 years now, and have, at least as far as I can remember, been a very solid team. Not too surprisingly.
Bradenton is far more familiar with Central Florida than we are, having played their twice this season (a 2-0 loss and a 0-0 tie), and, I'm sure, many more times in the past ten years.
The obvious player to watch out for is Zak Boggs, who is #2 on the goals (13 in 13 games) and points tables.
Here's hoping that Miguel and the boys can get past the past three games and become the team that won the division so handily.

So far as we can tell, it's not being broadcast via TV or the web, so probably not. Unless we all just cluster around mgrayscale's BlackBerry...

I'm open to meeting down there, but Blackburn is right. The only updates we'll be getting will come via text message. If anyone else wants to meet at ME's, just pipe up. If enough (I know, completely subjective measure) want to, then let's do it.

I prepose, and this goes for all future games where in we can not watch it live, we all meet at mother's and hold a "VIGIL ;)" during the alotted time of the game, whenever and wherever it may be played.

Since the game time is 4pm our time, I'll still be working. Or at least, attempting to work while I hit 'refresh' repeatedly as I wait for updates on here.
However, depending on a variety of things (one of which being us winning:)), I might be able to stop by after work.

So I've been talking to several folks, and have even had offers from David Markley to continue the text updates, as well as Zach Pope's mum to provid onsite reporting via phone.
Therefore, I will be at Mother Egan's at or very close to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, most likely in the back, for anyone who wants to come. We'll provide updates through every technology possible, and will also update this forum for those of you who may not be able to make it down. When we win on Friday (I'm feeling confidant), we'll duplicate on Saturday for the final.
Therefore, spread the news. I'll let the Aztex know, and see if we can get something on the website (TwoMeters, can you also help on this?).

Oooh, 4:00 is going to be a problem for me, but I will be there in spirit. Alejo try not to get too geeked for this match, it being our first play-off game and all.;)

Looks like we're in luck. Just got a message from Kay and apparently the game *will* be streamed live at the following URL:

Just click on "View Live Event". There's already a summary and countdown to the game.
I hope one of you can bring your laptop again, mgrayscale or Blackburn?

I have a pair of USB speakers I'll drag down too to see if we can get sound as well.

I'll also bring my laptop (w/o RealPlayer) and all the necessary cables we'll need for video and audio. Blackburn, we can run the audio through the TV's, so I wouldn't bother yourself with the USB speakers. However, please bring your laptop in case my doesn't work...again.
To clarify (and I'm at work so I haven't seen Kay's email due to policies), are they showing both tomorrow nights and Saturday's matches or just the Conference finals on Saturday?
I'll call Will at ME's and let him know the Chantico Army is on it's way!!!

Never mind, I got the answer. All 3 Southern Conference matches are being televised!!! I've died and gone to heaven.

I've tried to call several times, but they're not picking up so I'll drive by around 2:00 and talk to Will, and have him reserve us the back for both matches tomorrow night and the Saturday championship.
