View Full Version : Official Final All Rocks Drafted League Organizing Thread for 2008-9 EPL Season
Thanks to Jonathan for updating the 2008-09 organizating info
I'm adding a few names as well.
I've created Email Groups for each of the 4 leagues based on info I have and I'll be sending them all an email saying it's time for final confirmation that you want to play this year and let's get the leagues finalized, each league's draft administrator identified, determine the draft orders and set the start of the Go Slow phase of this season's draft.
I think I saw an email where someone has been tracking all the Ins and Outs from the premiership teams. Perhaps that person might want to set up a thread on EPL transfers in and out??? Not that it's tough to find, just thinking outloud.

All new managers should read the draft league rules thread and how we conduct the draft. This is a promotion/relegation combination of drafted leagues. If someone doesn't return, we move managers from lower leagues up in the order listed above.
Finalize managers and leagues by Friday, 7/25.
Obtain the administration volunteers from each league by Sunday, 7/27. This includes each league's draft administrator.
Obtain the 4 digit numbers from the managers to determine the draft order by Tuesday 7/29.
Determine the draft order for each league using the PA Pick 4 Lottery Number for Wednesday evening, 7/30.
Commence the Go Slow part of the draft, with flexibility on manager's availability, around Friday evening (EST USA), Aug 1.
Everyone should be reading the draft rules and should avail themselves of having a proxy manager make their selections if they will be absent from the draft for a substantial amount of time.
The key to the draft is open communications.

hate to be a party-pooper as a newbie in the league but I'll be in Rotterdam from the 1st-4th August watching Celtic getting whipped in the Rotterdam tournament.
i'll be good from the 5th onwards though.

I'm set to go, have blackout dates as follows:
Aug 1-4: total blackout - road trip to New Hampshire
Est. Aug 9-16: partial blackout - packing to prepare for transatlantic move on 15 August (I can check in periodically, particularly early in the day, and will use proxies as necessary).
So I guess I'd hope we start the VSR draft either before or after the Aug 1-4 period as I'd be reluctant to use proxies for the key early rounds when picks are more likely to need adjustment in response to what others do.
Also remember that when it comes to these dates for all of us, each league tends to be slightly different and really we only need to coordinate between 8 managers, not 32, to find the best time for each league to conduct them.
Would anyone, were we to draft today, spend 14 million on the possibly-leaving Ronaldo?

No Problem. That's why we allow proxy picks. I'll work with you to get your preferences on you top picks. Expect to only get through Round 4 or 5 the first weekend of GO SLOW phase, after accounting for time zone differences.

Being a repeat manager now to the Dust League, I can be admin since I am already familiar with everything. Plus being a teacher I have all the time in the world until September.

I think I'm going to open the sand thread on Friday.
Tonight I sent BigSoccer PMs to all the managers who have not checked in since last season to express their intent to play this season, telling them that unless I hear from them, they will be dropped. No replies yet.
I also managed to contact Alonzo Austin, aka KCRulestheEast, manager of Wallasey Wanderers. He was one of two managers to earn promotion to Sand League. Unfortunately, he said he wouldn't have the time to commit this year, so I will be dropping him tomorrow and whomever else, of the managers highlighted in red in the previous post, who do not let us know they still want to play this season.

I would love to start Aug 1st cause I will be away the week of the 11th :(
I think I'm going to open the sand thread on Friday.
my plans have changed and I will be vacationing the next week so I should have no problems for the draft.
ooops I just noticed I've been put on the VSR list. UGGGGG guess I'll wait till the lists are offical.
