I don't read the Bayern forums ;)
They've got the best news on this Poldi thing.
BTW, did you see the "Poldi/Ribery" thing I posted to the BVB List earlier today?
It's funny!

Poldi Wire:
Meier is in Munich working out details on the transfer.
Both say summer, but I have my doubts - unless its loan +purchase, which it might be.

I'm guessing deal is announced next Tuesday. Will give Reebok and REWE time to get their people where they need to be.

You're guessing? Hell, it's posted right over on the Bayern boards.......

You mean you are hoping. Unless Koln is going to give Bayern a new third striker, it will be summer.

I think that's what the delay is for as well. Uli goes out and gets his striker to compliment the recent addition of Landy and everyone is happy.

Possibly, but that's a hopeful notion. Bayern isn't going to make a big acquisition now when they have Olic coming in to replace Podolski next season anyhow.
I don't think the money Koln is giving them is enough to entice HSV into releasing Olic now.
But what you say could be true. Things can always change.

Am I the only one a little worried about signing Podolski at this point and not only because of the large amount of money involved. (...)
I'm excited that we are likely to sign him, but yes I am a bit worried, and mostly because of the financial aspects. I wonder where we've got the money from and how much risk we are taking.
Daum said in an interview that he gave his consent to this deal provided that it won't prevent us from making other transfers in the future. On the official message board, some fans are talking as if signing Poldi only makes sense when it is part of a bigger plan (read: when other transfers follow).
I don't like this at all. We should take only one step at a time and do it the Frankfurt way. I hope Meier has learned from his Dortmund experience.

Good news, Ümit Özat will be able to continue his career. If everything goes according to plan, he might be able to start with training runs at the end of next month.

transfermarkt says a deal for Poldi is done for the summer. Ablose: 10 million euros. The deal will be cancelled if you are demoted to 2. Bundesliga.

That's great news.
Btw: Congrats on getting Poldi back (even though I wouldn't have paid that huge amount to greedy Hoeneß).

Uwe, I think Koln were worried that Podolski would change his mind about coming back if they didn't sign him for next season instead of asking Poldi to sit at Bayern another season and a half and then come home on a free.
Hoeness just showed why he's the best general manager in German football. He got back his entire investment.
I think the guy deserves credit.

We should take only one step at a time
That's a great way to put it. I feel we are skipping a step or two or three.

I just hope they've got the finances in order, if they do, then they know what they have to spend.

Uli Hoeness is not a person I would have invited for a pint in the past, but his qualities as a manager are undisputed. I totally agree that he's the best out there.
Besides, we can't complain about Bayern greediness in this case. Hoeness made it quite clear that 10 million Euros are a special offer only for us and that he would ask for more in negotiations with other clubs. This might well be true, and therefore we have no reason to complain about him.

I read in a Tottenham forum a while back that many Spurs fans would have been delighted to see Poldi come to WHL, and for 10 million Euros someone even considered him "a steal".
Well, he's definitely not a steal for us. I'm really glad that our "lost son" is back, it's a proud day. On the other hand, it is quite obvious that the club is willing to take more financial risks than in the recent past. That's the down side of this deal IMO. I think we were really solid in the last couple of years, but now... I don't know, I'm worried and I can't help it. Strange. :(

You better don't get relegated, or Prinz Poldi's imprisonment will continue! Freiheit für Prinz Poldi! Viva Colonia!!!

With only 4 points more than us, you'd better watch out for Werder as well. ;)

He's still not one of my favorite people, but he's one of the best in the world at what he does.
I'll admit that as I get older and mellower, I'd love to sit down with him over a massbier and pick his brain.

He would have gotten more from other clubs too. And think about this. Say Podolski comes home to Koln and finds himself again. He matures and is one day truly ready to take on the challenge of playing at Bayern. I think Koln and Podolski would be much more open to another deal because of the way this one was handled.
Uli Hoeness is superb at never burning bridges. That and I'm sure that now he expects Poldi to give his all for Bayern the rest of this season.

Kicker reports in this article (http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/bundesliga/startseite/artikel/503360/) that the Boateng transfer is finally complete.
He signed a contract through June 2013 and will wear #26.
Neither the FC or Beitar commented on the transfer fee.
