Interesting analysis, I guess you're right when speaking of our defensive behaviour. I'm puzzled how you can be pleased with 4 points out of 5 games though. Make a projection based on that and you'll get 27.
Actually I said that the loss against Bielefeld was stupid and that I was happy with the points so far (before the Bielefeld match). Four points out of four matches was a good average looking at the teams we played.
My personal goal for cologne is to get 40 points - win 12 matches at home, draw on 5 against the 5 top teams and lose all 17 away matches = 40 points.
=======
I am more than proud about today's performance, I think Daum is reading here and stole my ideas. Brecko played the right wing back and we attacked early, played most of the times short iso long passes. With Paddy Helmes we would have won 3-0, maybe 4-0, he wouldn't have missed the two 100% chances by Nova. But three points are three points :)
Too bad I had to work and couldn't be in the stadium, first home match that I am missing live this season :(

What is the story with Streit?
He has a problem with any coach, he is pissy and a pain in the butt when he is warming the bench.
As I said he is not a team player, example is the season 2005. We lost 6-0 to Werder Bremen after a horrible performance, which also meant our relegation (we had theoretical chances only anyways).
But the team decided that they are going to reimburse the fans that travelled to Bremen by paying their tickets back. All did, but Streit.
Some said that this was right what he did, my opinion is that he is nothing more than a mercenary.
Few days later he signed at Frankfurt, because he wouldn't play in the second league. As I remember that was also the time he said the phrase quoted by cookiely "if I don`t get called up for the NT soon, I am gonna play for Romania".
Glad Schalke won't let him go.

I expected a reaction, my prediction was 2-1 for us, but would have been happy with one point also :)
Looking at the statistics Schalke didn't have a lot of chances in Müngersdorf:
Out of 35 matches in Müngersdorf Schalke won only 6 - Köln won 24 and 5 draws.

Excellent performance today by Cologne tonight. Especailly Petit who was monster in this game. While they only won by one, the score line is deceiving as Schalke only had one shot on target (91') the entire game.
I did a write up at http://www.bundesligatalk.com (http://www.bundesligatalk.com/)
Here's my match ratings
Ratings (out of 10) for Köln
Mondragon (5) Little work but was almost caught by Halil late
Wome (6.5) Great throws
Mohamad (9.5) Great in defense and the goal
Geromel (10) Immense performance, cleaning up everything
Brecko (5.5) Average going forward and allowed some of the few attacks by Schalke
Pezzoni (6) Shadowed Farfan well but was rarely involved
Ehret (8) Good movement and pinned Rafinha back all game
Antar (6) Good defensive performance.
Petit (10++) Just amazing both breaking up play and distributing the ball
Novakovic (7.5) Dangerous up front but made many poor choices
Vucicevic (8) Was everywhere.
Adil Chihi (5) Not convincing in brief appearance
McKenna (NA) Not much time
Radu (NA) Not much time

Ok, I see. I think that part of your post was a bit misleading, but not now it makes perfect sense.

Absobloodylutely. Now let's keep up the good work and don't let Gladbach get near us. Any more advice for Daum, Köllealaaf? ;)
Do you know whether there is something to the Express article on Geromel being injured? It said that he's got a serious knee injury and that a surgery is going to be unavoidable, in the winter break at the latest.

Vucicevic was marvelous in the match against Schalke. He has an excellent technique and ball control. I think that he deserves a call up for our NT.

Yes.... LET'S BEAT GLADBACH :D
As every season (with gladbach in the same division) these six points are a safe bet for us :D
Do you know whether there is something to the Express article on Geromel being injured? It said that he's got a serious knee injury and that a surgery is going to be unavoidable, in the winter break at the latest. What I read is that Geromel is playing under medication to avoid an earlier surgery. Hopefully it is not as serious as they want to make us believe. He is the backbone of our defense, although it is his first season in cologne. No doubt, he was the best signing for us in years (Petit the second best ;) ).

:D Derby! Derby! Derby! Derby!
I predict a hard fight ! It won´t be easy even though the Gladdys are in the middle of a crisis right now. But remember so were we till the Schalke game.
I would be absolutely happy with a point.
the last derby against Gladbach was very emotional because of that incident with the banner and the penalty in the 90th minute.
I have the feeling that some BMG fans would like to retaliate for the banner
 so we better watch out for our new bock.
With the Gladbach and the Cottbus game we have a chance to start a small
"Serie" which could do wonders to the self-confidence of our boys.
They are still lacking when it comes to that area, one of the reasons they were so nervous in front of the Schalke goal and only scored once despite all the chances they had
Man! I really want to see Ishiaku play soon.

Geromel and Mohammad are be the best FC defensive duo the FC had since I started elementary school. It is so great to finally see a defensive that actually deserves that name.
Geromel will propably have a surgery in the winter break, which is imo a rather
good sign. If it was very serious they wouldn´t be able to wait that long.
What I would like to know is, did the medical department oversee Geromels and Ishiaku`s injuries when they did the check ups, or did they see them
and simply accepted, since we wouldn`t be able to find anything better on the market anway.

Apart from my arrogant behaviour (I actually mean it ironcially, since BMG beat us so many times) I expect it to be hard as well. Since it is a derby BMG is very motivated to win this match, especially at home, especially because Cologne is ahead of them. It won't be easy and if our team won't get infected by the derby virus they won't have a chance to win.

UEFAAA Cup :) (please don't take me serious, just joking)

I believe Özat will be back sooner than Ishias. I have a strange feeling about Ishias

Maybe Geromels knee injury happened recently, I don't know any details about his injury.

To the best of my recollection, derbies against Gladbach have always been highly embarrassing for us - home and away. Thankfully Peter Wynhoff isn't playing anymore. If we can tie with them, I'd be more than happy.
