Doesn't seem like Broich is the answer either.

Did Broich play today?

Yea got subbed for Chihi as well.

Well give him a bit more time. We really have no midfield.

Still from what I saw, Chihi and Broich were better than Antar and Brecko.

Or we could give Yalcin a try

Yeah Daum should definitely give Broich a fair chance to prove himself, the whole midfield has been pants so far. A change of personnel and a different formation than 4-5-1 please, it doesn't seem to work for us.

Maybe some of our youngster should be thrown in at the deep end. Or good old Scherz. The most important change would have to be a new attitude though: running and fighting is what we need now. Sorry for digging up this platitude, but it's true, isn't it?

there are also rumors that the FC is interested in the return of Albert "if I don`t get called up for the NT soon, I am gonna play for Romania" Streit

He's a gifted footballer, but you're also correct in pointing out his complicated character. I wonder if our fans would welcome him back? If we can't sort our midfield difficulties and still got enough money in the winter, I wouldn't say no to a loan deal. Is there any source for the rumour?

Well, that's what many BMG fans think about our current tactics, too.

But fact is that we played brilliantly against Bremen with only 1 striker and sucked against Hertha in the old 4:4:2. So you see that it's not all about the system but more about the player's attitude & flexibility...

Of course, it is. That's exactly what our both teams totally lacked last night...

You can lose in Cottbus & Mainz, but it depends on HOW you lose!

My source is the WDR videotext, but it was also mentioned in a few newspapers.

A loan would be great, but I think Schalke wants to get rid of him completely.

Have to agree, it's not about the system - if anybody noticed, we played 4-4-2 against Mainz! And how successful was that ?
Even with Broich there was no sight of a will to fight or will to win this game.
An intelligent player like Özat is missing, who not only gives good passes, but also can defend well. Why McKenna is playing the right wing back is beyond me, in my opinion a fast paced player with a good pass (e.g. Brecko) would fit much better there.

One of the reasons why our midfield is not playing good is that we are attacking way too late, most of the time when the opponent is close to our box. The result of that is that we play long passes into the midfield which is then occupied by our strikers. In my opinion it would be important to dominate the midfield, but that also means we would need to attack earlier and move the opponent into its own half.

The thing that bothers me though is that we lost stupidly against Bielefeld. I knew it would be difficult versus Mainz, especially after losing in Bielefeld.
Other than that I am pleased with the points we got so far, it is still early in the season and our team still needs to get used to each other.

Streit is just what our midfields needs right now, someone that is able to carry the ball up front, someone that doesn`t just play the long ball.

Unfortunately we are not the only club that is inerested in him and signing him won`t be cheap. I don`t want the club to take to many risks and end up like Lautern or 1860. Also Streit is somewhat of a troublemaker.

Regarding Streit: I don't want to see him back in Köln. He might have his quality, but he didn't play in months. Undoubtful Wome has had his quality, but we all see how it looks like after not playing for months...
The fact that Streit is not a teamplayer AND a troublemaker is the reason why I don't want to see him.
We have already enough trouble as it is.

Interesting analysis, I guess you're right when speaking of our defensive behaviour. I'm puzzled how you can be pleased with 4 points out of 5 games though. Make a projection based on that and you'll get 27.

We're playing really well so far. Novakovic missed two fantastic chances, now we just hit the post.

Frustrating in my eyes. Nova spurned two one-on-one opportunities and Antar headed against the crossbar. A case of "it's just a matter of time" but given the opposition Cologne need to put their chances away when they get them.

Halftime

1. FC Köln 1:0 Schalke
1:0 - Mohamad 44'

To be honest, Cologne should be leading by at least two. They've been that dominant.
Still, shouldn't really be complaining. :)

we play so f*ing well, I am all giddy.
I can`sit still and when Mohammad scored my scream informed the whole neighbourhood of that incidend

Not everything Ehret and Vucicevic are doing works, but they are at least trying
and that is what I have missed so much

Just got back to the office. Keep it going boys.

How is Antar doing today? Saw he just lost the ball out of bounds.
