Per Goff, both gotta get sliced up:

Both expected to be out two to three weeks. Heal quickly, boys, 'cause we're going to need both of you for the Open Cup semi Aug. 12.

August 12th would be pushing it. Gallardo hasn't played since the Galaxy match. Not only will he still be healing but there's a question of match fitness. This could suck a great sucking....

I doubt gallardo will be that outta match fitness. His gesture of showing the young guys how to eat well or get them on the right track from that article DCUtd posted up makes me think he treats his body like a temple.
I dont see him losing too much fitness being off his feet for a month.
Peralta on the other hand i dunno....

I am thinking:
Houston - Tuesday
N.Y. - 8/10
New Engalnd - 8/12
Chicago - 8/16
New England - 8/20 (potentially)
Colorado - 8/23 (potentially)
N.Y. - 8/30 (potentially)
Just a guess (and paranoia).

I'd rather them come back healthy than rush back and make it worse.

Well, as far as league games go, in my opinion they all matter because of the hole we dug ourselves at the start of the season.

So we are pretty much feeling like that female cat that Peppy Le Pew was always chasing right about now.

so just out of curiosity,
1) is GRCannon still available?
2) in a pinch, what position does Talon play, and how much bird seed before it counts against the salary cap?
man, we are really running out of players... sure wish we'd won early in the season.

Peralta on the other hand i dunno....
Will Chang said at the tailgate on Tuesday that Gallardo had been trying to work through it and mentioned an exercise bike. So I assume that he's been keeping in shape as much as possible to try and avoid the surgery. Peralta is probably doing something similar.
Given the surgical techniques these days, I would figure that the worst part is going to be getting over the jet lag coming back here to the States and remembering to take it easy until they are fully healed. Oh and avoiding eating all the good German food over there. Mmmm...schnitzel. :D

Goff is saying 2-3 weeks ( http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/07/17/AR2008071702569.html), with an expected return somewhere around the Aug 10 match v. NYRB.
I remember when Namoff had this same procedure a couple years back, I was floored to see him back on the field that soon after surgery. Apparently, this German surgeon is remarkable when it comes to repairing sports hernias.

That laproscopic stuff and surgery is pretty darned incredible these days. My mother had her gall bladder out a few weeks ago and would have been home the next day if her liver function had been normal. As it was, she was back a couple of days later and was walking around like normal. Contrast this to my friend who had her gall bladder out about 10 years ago and she was in bed for a week.
