"Oh bliss! Bliss and heaven! Oh, it was gorgeousness and gorgeousity made flesh. It was like a bird of rarest-spun heaven metal or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now. As I slooshied, I knew such lovely pictures!" - Alex

I'm gonna miss the ol' bastard! :(

Alex was my favorite Gunner this past season. His immaculate first touch, his precise passing, his tight vision, his interview with Ade after Reading and his low socks. I'm gonna miss it all.

Like my old girlfriend, I am going to miss him as well. Then I am going to be tripping on acid with my new girlfriend and end up sitting 3 rows behind him at a rock show and realize that my new midfielder is much hotter and can take a shot much better and that I don't miss him / her at all.

Good luck Alex. You short control freak with a ********ed up dad. Wow my old girlfriend and Alex are a lot alike.

Farewell you little prick. IMO he's a quitter and I've lost my respect for him. Yes he was a good player but he also lacked a lot in many areas.

A thread to thank a guy who could'nt cut it at our club and then engineered in the most passive-aggresive manner possible a transfer away from us!!!! what on earth are you planning if and when Cesc or Kolo ever leave???

I appreciate that he's gone, which automatically means three less passes in the area per attack and perhaps a few more timely shots on goal.

It didn't help that he single-handedly created "all the speculation and such" with his apparent love of nocturnal Italian ices. So when Bayern eventually want him, which should be when he's 32 or so, does that now mean he'll go out with his agent for a midnight paella?

It would've been one thing had he waited until the close-season to initiate transfer proceedings and be straightforward and honest about the whole thing. It's quite another to go to secret meetings with officials from other clubs and your agent during your current club's Champions League campaign, with quite a long way to go until the season is over, and then come up with the lamest excuse possible when you're caught dick-in-hand. How anyone can think such a player "conducted himself pretty well" throughout that whole rigamarole, instead of rightly believing that all of it was a huge piss-take, is beyond me. I don't wish any harm on him, but he'll not have my best wishes, either.

Well, people who do not like Hleb don’t have to post here. Start your own hate-Hleb thread if you want, but we already know your thoughts.

As for me, I love his game, and I think he was the perfect partner for Cesc. I tracked 8 or 9 Arsenal games over the past two years and he was the guy who got the ball to Cesc, in space, more than anyone else. As we saw in the Euros, Cesc flourishes when he gets huge touches on the ball. In Spain’s quarterfinal victory, he got almost a touch a minute after he came in for Xavi. At Arsenal, playing alongside Diaby, Eboue, Rosicky and Hleb, he averaged about a touch every other minute. I continue to be amazed at those who don’t see the value of Hleb in his partnership with Cesc.

But, he can be replaced. Everyone can be replaced. I’ve never seen Nasri play and maybe he’ll fit in better with everyone else and he’ll create his own playing relationship with Cesc. Maybe he won’t.

I, for one, will miss Aleksandr Hleb. Best of luck to him.

I like his game too (sans the nonexistent shooting)... I was one of the few on here who defended him when everyone hated him last year... in saying that, he is replaceable, and he isnt a club legend... why does he deserve this thread? he has dont nothing for this club...

OK. what has anyone done for this club over the past three years? Hleb was a vital part of the run to the CL final. So were Eboue, Flamini and Sol. Eboue's a twat, Flamini and Sol are gone. When were firing on all cylinders last fall, Hleb was part of that. Hleb gets the PK call vs Liverpool and we might have had more to cheer about last spring. He played hard, he played largely out of position. I like the guy. He deserves this thread if there are people in this forum who liked him.

Ok...Ashley Cole won things here. And I don't recall anyone here missing him. What's the difference? They both were blatant in their disregard for the Club as they hankered to move away during the season, meeting with other teams' officials. They both are money grabbing whores. Just because Hleb had some glory moment (can't think of when), doesn't make him any less of a little bitch. In fact, if anything, he's more of a bitch for accomplishing nothing here and thinking that he is worth the world. At least Ashley had some, remote reason for justifying his massive, money whoring ego.

Great touch, but very frustrating.
Too passive in the box and honestly
he hasn't changed since Stuttgart.

Wenger was wise to move him and
once again, Arsene was able to make
money from this deal.
