Lets hope Koblenz has the "emptiness in their heads" (Rapolder quote) today that they showed a few weeks ago (9-0 loss to Hansa Rostak).
They clearly played much smarter and stronger in defense. They were very compact and frustrated the hell out of the offense. Lauth had a great shot in the first 15 mins that went off the post, and then there were several very near misses. The combination play of Lauth and Schaeffler is developing and will pay off in droves if they connect. Sven Bender had another sweet match. Gebhart was insane!!!
The BIG question is how will we play at FCK?
Below pic of Berhalter talking to Matthew Taylor (Ami).

Another home game, another group of girls to vote for. Is it just me or are they getting plainer? My vote would be for the girl in the advert (link (http://www.tsv1860.de/de/loewenfans/rasenhasen/votings/2008/05_koblenz.php)) rather than the girls they keep scaring up (further below). But since I have to vote for one of the three, I am going with the one on the left (the plumper one). [Edit: I take that back...I vote for the girl on page 6 of the 1860 Xmas Catalog here (http://www.tsv1860.de/media/native/pdfs/w_flyer_2008.pdf).]

The chunkier girl on the left looks like the girl from "Big Bang Theory" - Coehly, if she gained 30 lbs.

good interview with Gregg at http://www.tsv1860.de/de/aktuell/news/2008/news_2008-10-28_int_berhalter.php
It is also good to hear that he is working on his coaching qualifications. How exactly does that work, though. The interview says he has his B-Schein already. What exactly does that mean? Assistant/Youth coach? Thanks.

In UEFA and the DFB it is a bit like in the US. First you take a few intro classes, usually targeted toward youth development and coaching. However, you do not need to start with the lowest level (say, U6) and move up in order. I think you can start at D-Schein, which usually covers U12-U18, and move up from their. B-Schein entitles him to coach U19s and I think some smaller level league clubs. A-Schein is the top license and allows you to coach everything. There are usually continuing ed requirements too in order to keep your license current, outside of actually holding a job as coach. I could see him staying iwth 1860 after he is done. He is well liked and knows German football.

thanks for the primer. You are right, staying at 1860 would not be a bad move: good youth setup where he can cut his coaching teeth.

Wish I could see this one. 1FCK is tough to play at home (the altitude:)), top 2BL team, and I am worried about giving up goals. But if 1860 can play tough at the back, they should be able to score (plus 1FCK has their back-up goalie in). I don't think a goal or two is out of the question for 1860, but how many will they concede?

I'm only hoping 1860 can come out with a point. I don't see them winning there.
But I'd love to be proven wrong. ;)

Well, it has been an odd series the last two years. Last year, when FCK sucked (and so did 1860 toward the end), 1860 took both games. The season before, FCK took both games. Each time the games were decided by one goal (except for one).
This game will actually test a working theory I have; namely, that FCK (though at the top of the table) has not really played as tough as a schedule as 1860. Only recently had they played any "top" teams. The games against RWO and TuS are telling and certainly FCK is beatable. While having a great home record (so did Onsabrueck if you recall), 1860 is hot with a 9 GF/1 GA streak going. As Kurz stated in his interview, there is zero pressure on his team as they are not the league leaders, nor are they playing at home. I think the pressure is ALL on FCK.
That said, I do agree with Keith. If 1860 walks with a point it is as good as a win at this point. With a team decimated by injuries and playing with few first choice starters, I think a point on the road to a table leader is good. Anything else is gravy. Even a close loss would be okay. In fact, if you look at all the 1860 games, had a few things gone differently we would be much better off than we are now. I don't think this team is as bad as the 0-4 start proclaimed.
