Szukala, who went to Aachen during the summer, had been starting as their inside central defender has been suspended, again. He had jsut gotten back from suspension picked up in round 5 (a gelb-rot) only to see straight red in the 90th this weekend. He will be out for two more games.

And as Darth Vader said, "That will be their undoing."

I LOVE the fact we have HSV. They are hot, they are top of the table, they are beating very good teams, and therefore there is ZERO expectation on 1860. What a great position to be in. HSV just very well might be OVER concentrating on winning the league and may leave the Cup ties as "nice to haves" rather than imperative. I think they want CL ball next season and will concentrate like hell to keep that dream alive.

Head-2-head HSV wins. But...if they are still in the hunt for the UEFA Cup AND still in the hunt for the Meister, I will wager they give the DFB Cup draw less attention and jsut might be depleated enough for 1860 to take them.

Call me naive, but I could also see this Sechzig club continuing to develop and grow into a side that could spoil some seasons for others before the term is over. It is not that HSV would have to overlook Sechzig, but rather 1860 may continue to develop on the pitch moreso than they may have thought.

Just putting that out there...

Man, I want some of the Kool-Aid you two are drinking! That has to be some seriously strong shit! LOL!! ;) :D

I have been wrong before... Much like my predictions for the German National Team in the EM 2008 and any predictions for the Charleston Battery...

Perhaps I should just sit here and read instead of post. ;)

I honestly don't think they have the talent to rotate enough fresh plyers to keep up a Meister race AND a UEFA race AND a DFB Pokal race. Just don't see it. They are not a "treble" strength club right now. Hell, Bayern could not do it a few yearsa go....what makes you think HSV can?

Fabian has played well lately (and his date was underrated by the comments here a few days ago) and seems to be likely a solid player. I was reading about him a while back and saw that his dad was a basketball player from the US. Does anyone know his dad's (first) name? Just curious.

Don't know. Everything I read mentions his mom, so not sure the dad is around that much. Could be just the way it is reported though.

The fact they're playing Sechzig, that's what.

I'll take HSV on their worst day over Sechzig every time.

His father's first name is "Ron" or "Ronald."

A friend of mine down here knew him.

That's all I know.

Nick was called up for the qualification match against Mexico. First full international cap (http://www.tsv1860.de/de/aktuell/news/2008/news_2008-10-01_laenderspiele.php). Another Loewe grows up.:D

Ah, what could have been had we kept this guy (http://www.bundesliga.de/de/liga/news/2008/index.php?f=0000108450.php&fla=1) AND Marcel Schaeffer. What a back line we would have had.

I saw that goal. A "Sonntagsschuss" if I ever saw one. But they are excited about him and I hope he lives up to that excitement.

What the hell ever happened with that??

Bild.de is now linking him with joining his brother at FSV Frankfurt??!!

EDIT: Kicker is reporting the Frankfurt link too! It is in today's print version.

Bild also reported (http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bild.de%2FBILD%2Fsport%2Ffussball%2Fzweite-liga%2F2008%2F10%2F08%2F1860-muenchen%2Fstreit-um-neuzugaenge.html&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&sl=de&tl=en) that there is no money to buy new players. Clearly there IS money because the books show there is. What Reuter means is that he needs the available cash to secure the guys we have now. The German version (http://www.bild.de/BILD/sport/fussball/zweite-liga/2008/10/08/1860-muenchen/streit-um-neuzugaenge.html) is a better read....for those who do German.

In short, Kurz says he has his eyes on a few players, while Reuter says there is "no cahs" for new players.

Well, who do you think will have the final word?? I'm pretty sure that will be Reuter.
