My son is playing U11 soccer and we are working on his touch.
I have read and believe one of the best ways to do this is by juggling.
He currently uses a size 4 ball for juggling as well as in training and games.
This past weekend he has discovered a size 1 ball (mini) and was juggling with it. He now wants one.
My question is using a smaller ball would that help improve his touch? make it worse because he will go to using a bigger ball in practice? or doesn't matter; getting touches on any size of ball is a good thing?
Any thoughts would be appreciated

Smaller ball will absolutely improve your sons touch! A lot of brazilian players started out with a smaller ball. Basically anything you can do with a small ball you can do with a big ball. You have to concentrate more with the smaller ball. But make sure he juggles with both balls its all about improvements.
I suggest you try and get a futbol de salao they are small balls without a bladder in them so they don't bounce. Instead the ball is stuffed with foam and beans. Its good for floor work and for juggling as its heavier so it can build up your legs.
Smaller balls ive found tend to be very very light.

Thanks for the input
Is futbol de salao the name of those smaller balls? I can't seem to find them any where. The ones that I was looking at were the addidas/nike balls that have the bladder in them.

You can use a mini ball. It will really help his touch to work with a smaller ball. I've seen people use oranges (most brazil kids use an orange if they can't find a ball) or tennis balls.
Also dribbling with a smaller ball will help with dribbling and control.
