Well, the implications are zero, because that jacknut Steve Nicol (http://web.mlsnet.com/news/mls_news.jsp?ymd=20080715&content_id=172831&vkey=pr_mls&fext=.jsp) didn't invite a single DC player.
AFAIC, that's good for us, because the ASG really is stupid. However, it is kind of a petty asshole move for Nicol to not invite Fred, Emilio or Moreno.

Pick one outcome. Either you want them to be chosen or you don't. You can't be angry about both (reasonably.)

Fine. If the city of Toronto doesn't want our fans there, fcuk em.

That's the best news I've read all day.
Get your rest boys.

Ah, but irrationally, you can be angry about all outcomes all at once.
Try it. It's quite refreshing.

Eh, if I were ever going to travel to Toronto for a match, the ASG wouldn't be it. Hell, I doubt I'd go to the ASG if it were MLS-stars vs World-stars (Messi, C. Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, et. al.) and they held it in Cary, Chapel Hill, Raleigh, etc.
Now, if only we had a large enough bench to play only reserves for the rest of Superliga.

I have a feeling at least Emilio will be a commish pick.

I'm angry about both, but I'm more angry Nicol that hasn't given me a freaking pony yet!!!

I do this often. I find it quite energizing to be cranky.

I thought being cranky was my job.

More like a passion for you. Explains why you're so good at it.

I think this is a "good news, more good news" story. Our best players don't have to cram their already-hectic schedules with one more travel and a meaningless game. Plus, they get the added motivation (particularly when they play New England) of knowing that Steve "the genius" Nicol doesn't rate them among the league's best.
I like it.

Actually, I think there are DCU implications: Onstad and DeRosario were chosen, and we play Houston in a makeup league match two days before the All-Star game. Will they play? Probably Onstad will, but DeRo?

Whoo-hoo. I forgot about that.

Emilio certainly deserves it.

I'm certainly glad we don't have one player on the ASG roster, and I think Emilio should go the full 90 on Tuesday even if he gets the commish pick.

I think it's a bit of a snub not to pick any DCU players for the team. Even if picked, they don't have to play. Sure we aren't having the greatest season ever but I think Emillio certainly should have gotten a nod.
Hopefully it won't drag on as long as the MLB All-Star game.

If they don't play it will be because they just played in the Superliga match against DC not b/c of the ASG. Both are professional enough to know a league match far outweighs a meaningless ASG.

Perhaps it's just karmic payback for 2006 when DC United beat Chelsea (http://www.mlsnet.com/news/mls_news.jsp?ymd=20060805&content_id=68317&vkey=allstar2006&fext=.jsp) on the day of the MLS All-star game on a goal from guest player Dwayne DeRosario.
