In the fire FC thread someone mentioned quotes from management about FC having to perform well to keep his job. Obviously I'm paraphrasing, but it did make me think about Plush's special State of the Club article on the Rapids website last fall.

Remember? (http://www.coloradorapids.com/News/NewsDetails.aspx?NID=NixbeCoeo3U=)

CRC: What do fans most have to look forward to for next year?

JP: “Our fans right now are needing to know they can look forward to a quality product next year, one they can be proud of. A product we believed we would put in front of them this year, be we didn’t do it. We need to make it happen, there are no excuses.

The 2008 product on the field sucks right now. We win a game and then lose a game, we win then tie, we tie and then lose. The team has no consistency and plays without passion. Sure, we're scoring more goals but the product sucks. Gimmicks are being used to bring people to the Dick.

Jeff, when are you going to fix the problem as opposed to just giving lip service?

Though I agree that the Rapids ain't no Dynamo, aren't we 1 win to be tied for 1rst place. At least that's what the TV told me last night.

That's because the Western Conference sucks. Kansas City has the same number of pints as the Rapids with a game in hand, and is sitting at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.

Just being within striking distance of playoff position isn't success to me. Winning games, winning trophies, qualifying for special competitions, etc. are success to me.

HA! Apparently you missed the joy that is the elusive TECATE CUP!

CRC: The Rapids have been accused of being content with mediocrity...how do you respond to that?

JP: "Nothing could be further from the truth, but I also acknowledge that it is just rhetoric unless the results change. We have made mistakes and we will set out to change them. At the end of the day, I take responsiblity for our failings. If anything, I have been too deferential to others, but no longer.

"We will change the way we conduct our soccer business effective immediately. If we make changes on our roster, it will be based on character and integrity in addition to technical skills. I no longer will tolerate people who do not want to be here. We will move forward with a 'Club First' mentality, and with a group who wants to play for the shield on the front of our jersey, not the name on the back."

Isn't cut-and-paste a wonderful thing? I wonder where he nicked that line about players who play for the shield on the front of their shirt blah blah blah?
As far as I'm concerned, Jeff Plush is a serious waste of hot air.

Don't forget the Class VI Q&A (http://www.nofanalone.com/blog/archives/000972.html) with Plush from October 2nd of last year. Some of the "highlights"

Clearly we have to do far better. Our form since June has been frankly embarrassing. We have not performed to our expectations, but worse we have not performed to our abilities. That is troubling.

At the end of the day all player transactions other than a DP is the decision of the head coach.

We are committed to being a model club. In order to achieve that we need to develop a consistency of play and an ideology of what we want to be.

I agree that continuity is a major component of success. The teams that consistently vie for honors like DC, New England, Houston (San Jose) have cultivated a sense of purpose that comes from continuity.

This is a wide-ranging answer. The club entails many different facets. I am focused on our club being a great company that provides value to our ticket holders, is a good partner to our corporate sponsors, plays an active role in our business community, is committed to social responsibility, embraces our responsibility to the youth of our community and provides for a positive and nurturing work environment. (Notice the lack of anything to do with winning in this answer?)

We will move forward with a 'Lack of' mentality, and with a group of fans who wants to buy ten copies of our jersey, not question the way that, every other game, the team gets knocked on their backside."

Fixed your quote.

I'm just trying to think what the RFO is thinking like, and I'm getting a headache.

The RFO see success as reaching the playoffs. i'm with you, I see success as being a well executed organization that doesn't put up with failure and general lameness the way the Rapids have for years.

I guess we need to cheer on a different team if the past is the indicator of the future.

If say we do get a Superliga spot, I wonder how the RFO would bumble it.

Kroenke needs to buy a circus so Plush's carney mentality can work, "you can fool some of the people all of the time & all of the people some of the time & those are pretty good odds!" From my perspective Plush is odd goods! He is nothing but a "Blivet".

"Blivet" = 5 pounds of shit stuffed into a 2 pound bag!!!

Now, you are almost there. Just add putting 11 good 1st choice players on the pitch and playing good, attractive and entertaining football. Also, eliminate the repeated Front Office snafus and begin to function like a top notch professional outfit from Kroenke on down!!!
