hi everyone, im pretty new to the sport and have noticed that, more than other sports here in North America, soccer puts a lot of emphasis on the kit designs. now all sports put time into their uniforms but hockey is probably the only sport that can even come close to resembling the fans interest in kit designs. do you guys have theories/writings as to why this is?
the same goes for the stadiums. why is it that with football teams all over the world, the stadiums carry a 'mystique' for lack of a better term. is it based on the fact the a lot of these structures have been in places for many decades, like old trafford or la bombonera. since i mostly see english soccer, i noticed how the grounds arent ever referred to as stadiums but by their name, if that makes any sense.
anyway, i was just curious about this stuff as the more i watch soccer i'm more fascinated by the culture of the sport and its ties to politics, etc. so if anyone has links to sites, or articles, book recommendations('how soccer explains the world' is on my list) along these lines would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
