It was always a bit odd. I was reading the Senegalese papers and Metsu had a contract NOT with the Senegalese Footabll Federation, but with the government of the Republic of Senegal.
I always thought this was odd. Normally, if a coach/player violates a contract, the club/country can protest to FIFA, who can inflict sanctions on any FIFA member assocation who employs a contract violator or who allows a contract violator to be employed by one of its clubs. Now, I think the Republic allowed Metsu out of the contract so there's not this problem but I still find it odd that they would give up such leverage in forging the contract in the first place.
It's funny how Senegal's love affair with Metsu blossomed so quickly and soured even more quickly. Football's like that I guess.

I think Metsu did well in leading Senegal to the quarter-finals, and 1 mistake cost them a spot in the semi-finals. Diouf should not be striking against the team because of his departue that is not loyalty to his country.

What about Senegal's loyalty towards Metsu ?! The Senegalese government walked out on Metsu after putting them on the footballing map. He put them in a dream situation for the World Cup and also produced the goods at home in African Nations Cup. I'm very surprised that both parties walked away from this one.
