In about the 80th minute with RSL leading 2-0, a Columbus player went down just outside of the RSL penalty area. I thought that RSL's Beltran had fouled but there was no whistle.

The player stayed down and RSL played the ball out.

Then Maruffo cautioned Beltran. The game recap shows a caution to Beltran for a "Reckless Foul." Play was restarted with a throw-in and the Crew played the ball to RSL.

I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around this sequence. Did I see it correctly?

Match Tracker describes it this way, if it helps jog your memory any:

80:31 CLB -81st Minute. Shot on Goal by 8-Duncan Oughton, 1st of match. Save by: 18-Nick Rimando, 2nd of match.
80:55 RSL -81st Minute. Foul Committed by 2-Tony Beltran, 1st of match. Foul Suffered by 8-Duncan Oughton, 2nd of match. Card Issued.
80:55 RSL -81st Minute. Yellow Card Issued to 2-Tony Beltran. Foul Type: Reckless Foul

Had RSL just received possession? Could Marrufo have been playing advantage? It is possible RSL played the ball out simultaneously with Marrufo deciding there was no more advantage. Or, Marrufo could have decided that advantage had been given to Columbus and lost, so no foul should be called but the card should still be given when the ball next went out of play, which RSL complied with, and that RSL would maintain possession (via fair play convention).

Not trying to bring up old news but...

Shouldn't there be an [R] in the title?
