Signed on a free transfer having been released by Southampton at the end of the 2007-08 season.
Born on 21 October 1975 in Greenwich, London. Current age 32. Can play in the centre of defence and midfield.
Wright started his career at Millwall in 1992 before moving to Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1994. He spent a short spell on loan at Doncaster Rovers in 1996 and signed for Crewe Alexandra in 1998 where he switched from right wing to a creative role in central midfield. In July 1999 he moved to Ipswich for £500,000 where he spent the next five years, before moving to Leeds United in 2004. However his spell at Elland Road was nota successful one and he was sent out on loan to Millwall (2005) and Southampton (2006). He signed for Southampton permanently in July 2006. He was surprisingly released at the end of the 2007-08 season along with four other players in what was seen as being cost cutting by the South coast club and was snapped up by Blackpool.
Wright is the cousin of former Arsenal legend Ian Wright and played alongside his son, Bradley Wright-Phillips at Southampton.
