no, not the poster who's handle is the above, but the player!!!
I thought he had already retired, but apparently he hadn't. Looks like he will now.

what is the rule on testimonials? Since he did not retire as an Arsenal player can he still get one? I think he deserves one.

I think he def. has the required 10 years...but not retiring with us, I don't know...
From Wikipedia, "By tradition, clubs typically grant testimonials to players upon reaching 10 years of service with a club, although they sometimes are given to players with less service as they approach retirement. These matches are always non-competitive. Typically, former greats for the club are invited to participate, either in the match itself or the surrounding festivities. For especially prominent players, some all-time greats of the game may be invited, or the opposition can be a national team. Alternatively, if a player is strongly identified with more than one club team, the testimonial may involve the player's current and past clubs. All proceeds from the match go to the player; depending on the country, the income may be tax-free to the player."

One of my favorite players and I was sad to see him go when he left for Boro. Hopefully he goes for his badges.
A true Arsenal man.
"I was there many years, I signed as a 12-year-old and left at 32. So 20 years of your life is a long time. I'll always have Arsenal in my heart."

I know it's not always simple but younger players should hear that quote. THAT is commitment.

We should be buyin' us some Ray Parlours, that's what this team has been missing. Always one of my favorite Gooners.

I whole-heartedly agree. What happened to loyalty or at least the sanctity of a contract?

I always thought Flamini had the makings of a Ray Parlour type...we know how that experiment ended...

Great player; I'll always remember him captaining the side for the Italian Job and being a stand up professional. Enjoyed seeing him on Setanta and hearing him do a couple matches for ATVO, hopefully he calls some more matches next season.

I think I remember reading something when he left that said by moving to Boro he had forfeited his chance of a testimonial. Shame since he deserves one.

But he had a falling out.
What falling out? He left the club to try and get more first team playing time, but I never remember him speaking badly of the club, the manager, or other players. He was 32 when he left and knew he couldn't compete with the younger players at Arsenal. Leaving a club isn't always a falling out.
