what is the highest stage or level in soccer, is it the chamions league or as most people agree on; the world cup? I think not, the worlds highest stage is to play for the worlds superpower teams. These are arguably the following: Manchester United, Arsenal, Ac milan, inter milan, real madrid, barcelona, bayern munich, juventos, and soon to be :chelsea. There are also a lot of other great teams that are not superpowers, such as lazio, liverpool, ect. I think that playing for these teams is considered to be the worlds highest platform for soccer.

It depends. In terms of prestige I'm sure all players dream of playing in a world cup winning team above anything else, but for strength of competition the CL probably wins.

The world's literally highest stage in football is Bolivia's national stadium in La Paz.

No, I think "winning the World Cup" is the highest stage. How many WC winners have produce in the history of the game?

It has to be the World Cup if only because it is played only once every four years. And when a national team loses a WC match it upsets entire nations, not just the supporters of a certain club.

Oui, but les clubs have le fans all over the world, like Manchester United and Real Madrid in le Asia.
So if they lose le match, fans from le multiple nations get le upset, not just le ones from one country like is the case with le world cup.

Of course Champions League is the highest level for one reason. It's the only competition where it is possible to see the 22 best players in the world on the field at the same time.
You could be the world's most gifted footballer and never have the chance to play in the World Cup finals because your country is weak.
A for instance would be George Best - who Pele described as the best footballer he'd ever seen - European Footballer of the Year 1968.

The most prestigious is the WC but the best quality football is the European Championships. The simple reason is that pretty much every team is quality. In the CL there are always poor teams, but in the last Euro Champs the worst team on paper (Solvenia) were amongst the best to watch. It's basically the best 16 teams in the world bar Brazil and Argentina.

I agree, Giggs too. World Cup's kind of a different thing and of the highest order but for yearly competitions, it's champs league and everyone knows it.

The World Cup would be the bigger stage, but it lacks the stage part of the equation, it only gets played once very 4 years, and then each team doesn't play very many games, 3 group stage plus 4 knockout, 7 total for the finalists only, that is only one more in total than the CL group stage.
