50,000 people tomorrow at BORUSSIA-PARK! what a season-opener...Hope we collect all 3 points and start this season off 100% solid:D

Yep, the anticipation is sooo huge (especially, as we had a pretty good preparation)!!! :) Let's hope for a great game and maybe even 3 points, since a good start would be very important for the course of the season.

C'mon guys, let's do it!! ;) Stuttgart is a technically very good team, but I think we can beat them. I hope that the 2 former Fürth players Hilbert & Lanig won't dare scoring against us, but we have to be very careful in marking their playmakers Bastürk & Simak and top stikers Gomez & Marica.

I suppose that this will be the starting eleven for this afternoon:

-----------------------Heimeroth

Ndjeng--------Brouwers----------Daems--------Jaures

------------------Alberman-----Pauuwe

Matmour (Touma)------Baumjohann (Rösler)------Marin

-------------------------Friend

Great news for Marko! :) What a shame I've just arrived back from holidays and didn't manage to get a ticket to watch him play.

Marin called up again

Germany coach Joachim Löw has named Marko Marin in his squad for the international against Belgium in Nürnberg (Nuremberg) on Wednesday, 20 August. Besides Marin, Borussia will have to release four more players.

After watching the first half of Gladbach vs. Stuttgart: I hope Gladbach has some money left in the cashbox for transfers or this season might become pretty unedifying.

Paauwe, Heimeroth, Daems, Rosler, Friend and Ndjeng are no Bundesliga players. Heimeroth is awful IMHO.

Poor Marin. His teammates dont give him the ball very much and when he does get it its because goes to the middle. Not very good first half. But lets see maybe Gladbach can win the second half.

OMG, it looks like we're facing a disaster today! Thankfully, the Goal.TV livestream didn't work anymore after 35 minutes ... so I didn't have to see the 0:3 just 1 minute before the interval.

Terrible defending (and a bad goalie) & bad finishing (Rob should have scored twice)! We've had 5 chances, Stuttgart had 5 scoring opportunities as well ... but the half-time result is 0:3. :(

Well, the game is lost. The question is whether we'll manage to reduce the lag at least by bringing in the 2nd striker ... or try to avoid a real disaster.

Stuttgart stopped trying at some point. Yeah, there are a few players in white who are not quite convincing as Bundesliga players.

Stuttgart stopped trying at some point. Yeah, there are a few players in white who are not really Bundesliga players.

We shall see. It is their first game at this level and it can take time to adjust. Some will, some won't.

You're right, Ken. Many players have never played 1 BL before, so some of them might have been pretty nervous today. Nearby we shouldn't forget that Stuttgart is a good team which you can lose against.

We didn't play that badly today, but made 3 defending mistakes which led to 3 goals in the first half. Our goalie Heimeroth (who was pretty solid in the 2nd league) is responsible for the 0:1 (although we know that Hitz' shots are very fast & tricky) and 0:3 (together with Brouwers) ... whereas the RB Jaures (who came from Auxerre) has to be blamed for the 0:2. You simply can't afford such mistakes against top strikers like Marica, Gomez & Simak, so I hope that our defenders will learn today's lesson. The midfield was ok, I think ... although Pauuwe surely can play better. We created a few very good scoring opportunities by Marin & Matmour, but Rob often didn't manage to get past a good Lehmann. At least he succeeded in scoring the 1:3 after the interval. Our finishing surely has to improve the same way as the defending.

Well, it wasn't a good comeback & not the expected season start ... but I don't think we'll get panicked just because some people might think that our squad isn't good enough for the first league. Maybe we'll sign 1 more player during the next 2 weeks, but I don't think that we'll lose the faith in this team. The reaction after the interval was satisfying against a strong Stuttgart squad, so I'm sure that we'll recover from today's disappointment!

Alberman wasn't exceptional, but solid in his first game. Maybe he & Pauuwe gave a little bit too much space to the Stuttgart midfielders in the 1st half.

Colautti came in late (too late in my eyes), so he can't be rated.

I thought it was Paauwe who was at fault for the second goal, he got punished for dallying on the ball. Think Paauwe was not even good in the 2.Liga.

I only think you guys did okay in the second half because Stuttgart coasted through the second half. Overall, I found nothing good about this performance.

Then you didn't see one single 2nd league game. Pauuwe was our most important player last season and is the "brain" of the team.

Btw: How can you rate our performance from today so well when Hertha was playing in Frankfurt at the same time? Just wondering...

Super Bundesliga-Rückkehr von Lehmann

Stuttgart clever, Gladbach naiv

I don't think this performance is neccessarily an indicater or how you will do for the rest of the season. Coaches and players adjust throughout the season and learn from mistakes. Performances like the one in the first half were to be expected from a team that just came up from the 2. Bundesliga. The positive thing was that the team improved in the second half, whether it was their own doing or Stuttgart laying back. I think you guys will do much better as the season progresses.

One more thing, you guys have Marin. ;)

Borussia

I can't believe that Pardo didn't even see yellow for the ugly ellbow check against Rösler's eye! During Rösler's absence, we conceded the 0:1 in numerical inferiority ... and short time later, Sascha even had to be replaced.

Nearby Rob Friend could/should have scored 4 goals today. Marin & Matmour had good scoring opportunities as well, but Lehmann made the difference today.

Well, this game should be a good lesson to our guys. It's no shame to lose to a team like Stuttgart, at least we created scoring opportunities. Pity that 3 avoidable mistakes led so early to this defeat.

The defence was bad, but our offensive midield with Marin, Baumjohann & Matmour proved its quality in many situations. Alberman & Pauuwe seemed to be nervous before the interval, but managed to improve in the 2nd half. Rob had his chances, unfortunately he didn't manage to take them. If we scored the early 1:0, the game could have turned another way...

Bonne nuit.
