Gospodarek to miss Wolfsburg trip

Borussia are without six injured players for tomorrow's away fixture at VfL Wolfsburg. The 18-man squad left Düsseldorf for Wolfsburg by train today.

It's on our official website in Hebrew. I'm sure they're going to translate it soon. It's only a friendly match, that's why it doesn't really get much attention. We were suppose to have the match against Schalke 04, but mattheus requested M'gladbach, since he's really connected to your club.

Bild had a story that Friend will no longer play for Canada while Canada has its current coach.

So Friend will definitely remain in 'Gladbach in mid-November when Canada has the last of its WCQ matches (vs Jamaica).

As half Canadian I don't understand, why wouldn't he play for Canada's national team?? That's ashame because we can really use his skills...

As half Canadian I don't understand, why wouldn't he play for Canada's national team?? That's ashame because we can really use his skills...

Bacause it doesn't matter as Canada had already been eliminated from the World Cup qualification, though there are still games to play. Better for him to focus on his club career right now, especially as his club needs him more.

Not to take this off topic but to clarify Rob Friend's position. I spoke to him briefly after our opening WCQ game against Jamaica (match #1/6: 1:1 draw) in Toronto and he does not seem the type to 'quit' on Canada.
The issue here is the coach. The coach and the players are having severe problems, with several players now refusing to play for Canada under the current coach.
There is even a rumour of Friend having a huge argument with the coach in training prior to our match in Honduras. He played in Honduras (when we still had a slim possibility of qualifying -- match #4) but returned to Germany prior to our home game against Mexico (match #5) which was meaningless for us as we were already eliminated.
I expect Rob Friend will be back playing for Canada as soon as Dale Mitchell is sacked or resigns.
