Something I got from a friend in Napoli:

Would he see much playing time at Monacao?

I feel as if he'd be used as a super sub, much like at Benfica. Hopefully he won't fall out of favor halfway through the year like he did at Benfica.

No kidding, I just hope he can get some playing time every week against good competition.

BTW, the poll on that site (Why Would Adu Move to Monaco) cracked me up. I voted for Better Looking Women. LOL.

I'm a Monaco fan and I'd take him. We stink so why not

And the same website now says they are offering 6 million euros for Heerenveen's Michael Bradley. He would be a good addition, no?

Monaco never forgot what Grace Kelly did for the club :D

According to le Parisien today, Monaco is preparing a low-budget season. The team is in the red : the new Prince seems to be less generous than old Rainier. As it seems, they already reduced the staff with Keller, Ettori and some others out. That's the glorious uncertainties of Monarchy. Therefore, I don't know how Addu would fit in this change of standing.

On the other hand, he would probably be a starter in a more humble team, so he might try it.

This is interesting if it turns out to be true. An end of an era over there ? No more winning trophies. No more signings of expensive foreigners. Monaco is now like Auxerre or Sochaux. If its all true then wow times have changed. You can kinda sense it already with the Menez situation and the players they're being linked with. Ilan ?

Yes, a poor Monaco... it sounds like a contradiction in terms. But times are difficult, even for royalties.

(Maybe the Prince has some issues with the many, many, many alimonies he has to pay. Can't have a decent soccer team and countless women at the same time :D )

Looks like they need some foreign investors.

I'd love for Freddy to come to France. Then I could actually see him play.

Setanta (http://www.setantasports.com/en/Sport/News/Football/2008/07/21/Ligue-1-Adu-to-Monaco/?facets/sport-space/great-britain-locale/) is reporting that it's a loan move with an option to buy.

So I'll ask a couple questions. Is there any good English language websites that follow Ligue 1? How about any place where I can order a Monaco jersey (I dig the away ones)?

Theres really no substitute for going to french sites to stay up on le championnat, but frenchleague.com is pretty good. Its the only english language one i go to. Or you could always come here, but the ASM contingent is on the small side. As for the shirt, I can only really think of their website or madeinsport or another site online.

Also if you get Setanta, they have a weekly french league highlight show that's a good time.

There's a new ASM blog in English that you might wanna check out.

According to le Parisien, the deal is nearly done. I think it's a rather good thing for Adu : obviously, the new chair of Monaco has many links with the USA, and the ligue 1 is renowned for being a good place for young players.

(of course, personally, I wish we could be something more than a development league, but here we are).

I think Adu can do well at Louis II, given that with Piquionne gone, and the board's apparent desire to show him off to attract American investment, he will likely have a place in the starting lineup when he gets back from the Olympics, especially with Gakpé remaining injured. It will also be interesting to see how Freddy when the pressure is on, as both the crowd (well, who shows up, anyway) and board will be expecting some excitement. It's also important, I think, that he's aware that, while he is quite skilled, he wouldn't be the best player in the team or even one who is the among the major offensive threats. Ménez is the best in the squad, and Gakpé, if he bounces back, are better players, though to his credit, Freddy doesn't appear that much of a diva despite the reality that his reputation exceeds his ability right now. In any case, I wouldn't be shocked if Adu does well as a Gouffran/Issiar Dia type. He has speed and technique that is comprable to those guys.

What has always impressed me about freddy is his apparent humilty. Now i don't know what he's like behind closed doors, but he's always come across as a nice humble type, not likely to be involved in any stupid antics. Even since he's been in the hopes and dreams of American fans since he was like 13. I hope he does well in Monaco, and I expect him to.

Yes, I hope Freddy is known more in terms of soccer than as once being the boyfriend of JoJo. Wait, who's JoJo? :D
