Yes, great news indeed!

So maybe the whole "Funkel cant reach the team and cant give them visions" that many people in Frankfurt have been crying around about isnt true after all?! ;)

Hopefully Paddy can get more constant next season, he is definitely one of THE key players in this team!

On the other hand Michael Fink allready signed a contract with another, yet unknown team. Apparently they are supposed to play in Europe next season, so I guess fair enough...

Will be hard to replace him tough. He was also a good one!

How is Fenin doing?

How is Fenin doing?

Hes doing allright. Nothing spectacular, but a solid player, considering his young age...
Also it seems like he is improving steadily. I hardly see him diving anymore, as he did often in the beginning...

Edit: The statistics look pretty good I just see... 5 goals and 9 assists sound ok for a 22 year old. :)

Those are pretty good numbers. Hopefully he can get the goals up to double figures next year.

Hopefully things in general are goign a bit better for us next year.... :P
If they do, Im sure that Martin will be able to score 10+ goals in a season one day...

But for now we have another, more important goal: Avoid relegation! And Im a bit affraid that wont be as easy as it seems, given we still have to play Dortmund, Werder and HSV and so far have gained not more then 4 points against the "top 10" teams... :(
We need one more win to be sure. I dont see it happening in the 3 games mentioned, I dont see it happening at Hannover... so I guess we will just have to win in Bochum on matchday 33... ^^

Yeah, the run in for FC is pretty ugly as well. Just need two wins and I'll feel happy.

I bet you're already secured (thanx to the goal difference) ... but of course I hope you'll get at least 1 point in Bochum! :-)

Yeah... well. I dont really know what to think about that...
As much as this season sucked, with any other coach we will still finish between 11 and 13, wil still have some amounf of relegation fear, will still manage to avoid it fairly easily, we will still concede 2-3 trashings against Werder or BVB or Bayern or whomever....

I dont see anybody gaining anything here... :/

Funkel gains something. He's no longer in the line of fire now.

I guess you guys HAVE kinda stagnated in your squad's development, a fresh start may be a good thing for next season. But nevertheless, Funkel did a solid job with the side over the years.

Funkel gains something. He's no longer in the line of fire now.

True. But I dont think he ever cared...
As he said in the press conference his major motivation to quit was that the players have been starting to be troubled by the "situation".
I dont think that losing this team, that he has built up and that still has room to grow is worth getting out of the "line of fire" for him...

Its been a pretty ********ed up season and yeah, some things have been going wrong. I personally am looking forward to a fresh start. At the same time Im affraid that as I said, I dont think another coach will actually change that much...

Funkel did far more then just a "solid job" over the years. Looking back were we stood when he came, his work has been huge! He will have his spot in the Eintracht Museum for sure...

Thanks for trying your best today guys!!

My guys didn't get the job done, but I and other BVB fans fully appreciate that you gave us more of a chance than we deserved.

29.05.1999 - I think I am not overreacting when I say this was one of the most emotional days in the history of Football.

I cant believe its 10 years allready...

Maik Franz (http://www.eintracht.de/aktuell/27280/) has joined SGE today, signing a contract until 2013.

Not a bad signing. We definitely need someone to clean up our defense!

I dont really expect much more activity on the transfer market this summer.

What we need now is a good coach!

We have a new coach.

Michael Skibbe. (http://eintracht.de/aktuell/)

Dont really know what to think of that. I guess he deserves a chance.
Well then...

Eintracht starts into the new Season 2009/2010 this weekend with the Cup Game on the other side the Main River. 50 years after we won the Final of 1959 against them this should be an entertaining matchup!

Apart from coach Michael Skibbe and Maik Franz we have signed Selim Teber from Hoffenheim, Pirmin Schwegler from Leverkusen and Ralf Fährmann from Schalke.

I still see a lot of potential in this team, even tough last season was rather desastrous.
This season is maybe the last chance for some of our players who have been around since 2nd division times, to show that they are more then just talented guys. Patrick Ochs, Alex Meier, Benny Köhler but also Iannis Amanatidis are all facing this task imo. They are well into their upper twentys now, so its time to get a little consistent and take over some more responsibility...
If they do that, and the young guys, Caio, Fenin, Russ, Steinhöfer, Korkmaz, Schwegler, but also Tsumou and Tosun reach up to their potential we could play a pretty darn great season. Of course we would also have to have a little less injuries this season... Last years injury list was a total desaster...

we will see. for now the most important thing is not to mess up the start on sunday...
