simple:
NO ENGLAND= crappy tournament.
though i hate england with a passion, the Euros need them in the tourney. Because they add lots of drama, and their fans are superb. think back to how many classic games England has played in the Euros! games in 96, 00' and 04' ..And watching them lose does numbers to ratings. they come into every tourney as god sent, and when they lose , its magnified 100x more than any other team. In 2004 i remeber their games vs france, and portugal rather than Greece's fluke. this tournament had two unlikely teams to emerge , Turkey and Russia, though they will be forgotten none the less. It was a very predicatable final, germany vs spain..
It just sucks that England werent in it...you need a powerhouse like that,
and there is lots more hype and media attention that comes with the 3 lions package, + becks! I hate their team, but i respect them by all means. A tournament has less life with them out! what do you all think!
i mean think about the classic games with England,
96 vs scotland, holland, 00' vs germany, portugal, romania, 04 vs croatia, france, portugal....all awesome. and in 08 , what is better russia vs greece, russia vs sweden? zzzzzzz england vs spain is a better semi than russia
