...and with Hoppenheim around now ;)
KSC could actually save themselves still, but it doesn't look like they've got it in them. They really needed to beat Cottbus this weekend and couldn't even score. Just not worthy of staying up. If they did manage to stay up it would make things funner for the region, but to be honest with 3 DERBY SIEGS in a row i'm fine with leaving things as they are and not meeting them again for another 10 years. :)
Either way yeah it would take Freiburg the mother of all ******** ups, and bad luck, not to get promoted now. I think at this stage they'll get promoted even if they lose every remaining game. So you guys are safe, and looks like Dutt really did succeed in getting an imprint on this team just like Finke had managed. So, looking back at it two years later, I guess you can say the switch was worth it.

oh yeah i forgot about those Hoppenheim guys :D
whatever it's not really a derby to me anyway...I'm not sure if just being from Baden makes them a traditional part of the old Baden/Schwaben rivalry with KSC, SCF, VfB, Reutlingen, Ulm, Mannheim...
and you're right...I would probably live the rest of my life as a hermit if the SCF f*cks up this great chance to get promoted.
I have to say overall I'm a little worried for next year...I don't think our quality of football has been the best it can be overall at a consistent level. I assumed teams like Mainz, Lautern and FCN were much more prepared than us but i guess not...I'm still very surprised that we're currently in first place by 7 points.
Robin Dutt is also another big question...No matter what, our position is the best that it's ever been in quite a few years. all the SC Finke fans seem to have ran away or just shut their mouths (thank god) Finke was a big part of the past and i thank him for what he did...But he should have left many years ago.
The big debate is that during 06/07 during our incredible rueckrunde...If finke stayed...guys like iashvili, Antar, Mohammad, etc...would have stayed...But maybe not. Finke just did not do enough to keep this team going. Keith once mentioned (and i totally agree) that during the 06/07 rueckrunde...the players were totally playing over their heads because Finke was going to be replaced right after the embarrassment at home against KSC...
Finke seemed to only want to get players that were only good enough to sit on the bench. Dutt made rapid changes to our lineup during his first year. Dutt was actually buying players that were supposed to START and play WELL...We saw some great football, but the team wasn't gelling together...This season he has definitely filled in many of the gaps with more GOOD players (for our standards) and hopefully Dutt's work can be the stepping stones to a new somewhat better future for SC Freiburg.
I also met Robin Dutt before last season and talked with him for about 5 minutes...very nice person!

That won't happen! LOL!!

Internal problems killed FCN in the first half of the season. Internal problems have been killing FCK the past few weeks.
Injuries have hurt Mainz over the last month or so.
You guys have pretty much lucked out in those departments the entire season.
And sometimes, that's what it takes.......

Dude, you really should show Volker Finke more freakin' respect. SCF never becomes anything but a tiny Black Forest club without Finke.
SCF gave him the time he was due. Getting rid of him earlier wouldn't have helped you guys any.
Robin Dutt is just getting you promoted.
Finke had your asses in the Bundesliga for quite a few years.
And, Finke didn't get guys "that were only good enough to sit on the bench".
Finke got Freiburg the Bundesliga exposure it did get by buying cheap players and developing them. The club simply doesn't have the money to BUY the players it needs to stay in the 1st Bundesliga.
And as other Bundesliga clubs got more money to spend, SCF and Finke couldn't attract the level of talent they could before from Germany or Africa.
So instead of just ragging on Finke for what went wrong, why don't you look at why it went wrong?
Now. Do you think SCF is going to go on some buying spree and buy a team worthy of staying in the 1st Bundesliga??
If so, you're sadly mistaken.
Next season, you will find out what kind of coach Robin Dutt really is. When he took over at SCF you guys had some bad times, but were still one of the more stable clubs in the 2nd Bundesliga.
I think you are right to praise Dutt for some of the holes he filled, but they also spent money for him they either couldn't or wouldn't spend for Finke because they expected Finke to develop the cheap talent.
In the 1st Bundesliga, you're going start at the bottom again. You guys might get some cast-offs desperate to stay in the 1st Bundesliga, but you aren't going to get real 1st Bundesliga level talent fighting to get to Freiburg.
Dutt is going to have to coach his ass off. You may give Volker Finke shit for the way his tenure ended, but that man kept you guys in the 1st Bundesliga a couple of seasons you had no business being there.
When Dutt does the same thing, I'll be impressed then.......
Until then, he still can't touch Volker Finke in my eyes.
Dutt may be a "nice guy", but let's see if he can actually keep SCF in the top flight.

generally i agree with everything you're saying about Finke.
but...
...
I'm sorry but he should have left years before (when i say years i don't mean 10...i just mean a few haha)
04/05 for example we only won 3 matches in first division...
Our team OBVIOUSLY wasn't that strong but with players like Iashvili, Coulibaly, Golz, Dorn, Willi, Bajramovic, Riether, Antar, Tskitishvili...Clearly not a lineup to make the opponent shiver...However all those guys together should NOT have such an embarrassing season!
It was obvious that Finke's tactics were a little out-dated and he just couldn't motivate the players like he used to.
That really should have been the end of the Finke era. After that this team was quite pathetic for its standards (i know, not saying much) until the 06/07 Rueckrunde when it was announced Finke was gone at the end of the season.
but you are very right...Finke did a great job developing and finding young talent...Pitroipa and Matmour were the best in that aspect.
Many fans (including myself) thought that Finke should manage the Amateure along with the Freiburger Fussball Schule.
When it comes to finding the right players however...Yes i was never saying that players all over Germany were just DYING to play for the mighty SC Freiburg for cheap (clearly that's pretty stupid)
just please don't deny that Finke made some ridiculous purchases and caused two great players (Regis Dorn and Tobias Willi) to get the hell out of here...I'll never forget when Dorn never got to play for us (a decent striker not playing for a team with a weak offense?!) then the next season he was the 2nd liga top scorer for Offenbach...But wait, Finke replaced him with the
anyways this debate won't really end.
Keith you seem to really under-estimate my respect for Finke
Dutt can't really compare his 2 seasons at Freiburg with Finke's 16.
It's just the end of an era (2 years ago) and everybody has to shut the hell up about this Finke situation because its divided our fan-base way too much over the last few seasons.
It's over now
we're starting a new era with Dutt...Don't think Dutt will (in the end) be held in such high regards as Finke...But at the moment he's doing a pretty good job.
wow i'm writing way too much here.
next season in first division...Well yes i'm well aware that we're back to the bottom. I assume our team will be somewhat strengthened but losing Daniel Schwaab (Leverkusen) will be a huge loss...I think that the team will be very excited to be in first division and that we will be safe...The season after would scare me a lot more to be honest.

Glückwunsch zum perfekten Aufstieg! :) Have a nice party, Kyle ... do you think your guys are gonna celebrate until Wednesday? ;)
Stefan Reisinger's equalizer against Nuremberg was decisive for your promotion this afternoon ... so what about letting him score a few goals on Wednesday night as well (as some kind of "thank-you")? :-))

@eisenfuss: thanks mate, I hope the same...I'm really excited to see how our new team will compete with smaller teams that are all bigger than us again :p
@uwe: i'm actually not 100% sure...but we'll see on wednesday :D
to be honest...I'd prefer to win the rest of the matches but if i had to pick one to lose...It would be this match against Fuerth.
Would be nice to see some success from our new striker
plus i'd rather have two wins from the last matches...No matter what now it's going to be a party at the end of the season so i guess it doesn't matter!
@tsubasa: AHHH now aren't you lucky! man i'd do anything to be in Freiburg for this month!! :( although i have to admit...I hate saying this as a Freiburg fan...but...I don't really enjoy the taste of Rothaus, even Tannenzaepfle.
...i still need to get my tickets for this summer

LOL at the last two comments :D
seriously...I waited many years to try my first rothaus in Freiburg.
I expected it to taste like a drink made by the gods...
my first sip was probably the most disappointing taste experience as far as beer is concerned. (of course i didn't tell many people my true feelings) :o
I much prefer GANTER.
Badisch Weizen, Hefedunkel und so weiter
my next visit i will be a lot more open-minded with the beer that's for sure.
just watched some more videos of the celebrations...:(

new players for next season
Stefan Reisinger
Cedrik Makiadi
Manuel Salz (From Stuttgarter Kickers)
assuming he is going to be the new backup keeper.
There are also rumours that Dominik Rheinhardt from FCN could be our desperately needed replacement for Daniel Schwaab.
I must say I'm a little confused.
Here are the players who's positions are preferably at forward.
Jaeger
Rodionov
Reisinger
Iddrissou
Bechmann
Makiadi
Glockner
I really wonder what is going to be done.
I heard Rodionov is staying but i can't imagine all 6 of these guys will be staying as well...I'm sure there are many teams around Germany who'd love to have some of them as a starter.
Everybody here has potential but i assume Bechmann, Reisinger, Makiadi and Iddrissou will be the only ones who constantly get to see some starting action.
I'd like to see (FOR NOW)
a lineup like this...
----------------Pouplin
-----------Krmas------Toprak
Rheinhardt--------------------Butscher
------Schuster---------Banovic
-------------Abdessadki
-Makiadi/Rodionov---Reisinger/Bechmann
----------Iddrissou/Jaeger
Obviously rotations between the forwards in terms of who's playing the best. Along with in the midfield we have UZOMA, Flum, Gunes for replacements.
Again the same with defenders...Schwaab is a huge loss and NEEDS to be replaced by a player of similar quality....If any of those guys get injured however (which will happen)
At the moment there aren't many suitable replacements for 1st liga with Schlitte, Olle Olle, Barth, etc.
I wonder if guys like Flum, Gunes, Olle Olle and Uzoma could ever be good to play a solid back role in the 1st liga...
hopefully :D

Horrible news for SC Freiburg.
SCF's young defensive shooting-star, Ömer Toprak, was involved in a Go-Karting accident on Tuesday and apparently was burned pretty badly.
He's in a burn hospital and while his injuries have been described as "serious", they are apparently not life threatening.
SCF released the following statement:
"SC Freiburg asks for your understanding as we cannot make any statements on (Toprak's) injries or the exact circumstances of the accident at this time. What is most important at this moment is that Ömer Toprak recovers as quickly as possible."
You can read the Kicker story at this link. (http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/bundesliga/startseite/artikel/509996/)
All the best for a speed recovery to this young man. :(
