It's official, Doblas is now our number 1!
confirmed here from the test match on wednesday against Slovan Liberec where we won 1:0 (from an own goal...not very convincing)
SC Freiburg: Doblas – Schwaab, Butscher (62. Barth), Krmas, Schlitte (46. Olle Olle) – Banovic (46. Flum), Schuster (62. Uzoma) – Abdessadki (62. Mehring), Bechmann (46. Glockner), Jäger, Türker (62. Bencik)

of course Keith is right that we still need to perform...
It might take a bit for this team to get up to full strength...
But the point is...it looks like for the first time in how many years...We have what seems to be a very strong team on paper.
these new players are guys who've been needed for far too long...Especially to fill in the problems with our always weak offence and unreliable goalkeeping.
I am a bit worried about or Backline...Although i'm sure if that is our weak link, we'll be getting a new defender over the christmas break.
Now with Idrissou, Bechmann, and Türker upfront...With players like Glockner, Bencik and Jaeger (if those last 2 stay) we'll have a solid attack.
Abdessadki playing a central attacking midfield role will really bring in some more fire power.
Günes and Banovic cleaning up the midfield and supporting the backs will have a big presence as always (Uzome can sub in if there are any problems) all of those guys can really shoot also....
Schlitte is probably the weakest player in the expected starting 11...Although he has REALLY improved over the season...He is the hardest working player and his quick runs down the left flank are always really exciting...
...Schwaab on the right can also send in some great balls...He is surprisingly good with his feet for such a lanky guy...Hopefully Flum and Olle Olle are ready to fill in for the wing backs when problems arise
Of course Krmas and Butscher are pretty solid in the central back position...Butscher is also really dangerous on corners....Nothing bad to say about these guys...The only problem i think is we don't really have that much of a replacement for them...Except Barth who is either hit or miss.
and now perhaps we don't need to piss ourselves anymore when our goalkeeper has possesion of the ball...Not speaking so much for Langer (he is great..has a lot to learn though) but mr Alex Walke...
Doblas is a fairly experienced goalkeeper with experience in football that is of much higher quality than the 2nd liga (as most would say)...Hopefully he can excell here and i think he will.
my starting 11...
---------------------Doblas
------------Krmas-------------Butscher
---Schwaab---------------------------Schlitte
--------------Banovic-------Günes
-------------------Abdessadki
--------Bechmann-------------Idrissou
--------------------Türker
first choice replacements:
Langer, Flum, Olle Olle, Barth, Uzoma, Glockner, Bencik, Jaeger

so apparently...Doblas was just here for the training session
according to many sources the actual transfer is not financially feasable.
I thought he was going to be free anyway
looks like we're still looking for a keeper.

I have to disagree. Friendlies are meaningless EXCEPT in certain circumstances. Like if it is with a arch rival for example would a BVB-SO4 friendly be meaningless? Certainly not to most fans.

OK. What did you get for it? Pride? Hope?
Do you really think you guys would beat KSC with something on the line?
Dude, BVB just beat FC Bayern for this fake ass "T-Home Supercup." I didn't even have a beer afterward.
I know it will be a different story when we meet them in a month.
The next time you guys cross paths with KSC, it probably will be too.
And yes, there are fans who a BVB-S04 friendly would mean something for.
I'm not one of them.

Well we're a different type of fan. I want to see Freiburg beat Karlsruhe just as bad if its some fake ass tournament or the DFB pokal final.

yeah i have to agree with Eric - every match is important to me...sure this is only for pride but anything against KSC i'll take seriously.
I'd be there singing at every friendly and league match that i could go to.
the point is my beloved team is still playing a team i hate...Since we can't play them this year and we don't really have any actual rivals coming for this season...A friendly against KSC this time around might mean something more to average fans.
but you're right a real league-match would be different but i don't think that just because KSC is in the first division that means they're 100 miles ahead of us...We could beat KSC any day, and they can beat us any day...that's football...Derbies are always a different story too.

For non-German readers the first article tells about SCF taking place in the Kaiserstuhl cup which includes Bayer Leverkusen, Mainz, and Bahlinger SC. We play Leverkusen today.
The second article talks about us playing the Cuban national team on August 5. I think :o

I didn't say KSC is "100 miles ahead of you", but if you guys played five times, I'd venture to say KSC would win three and draw one.
And I think I'm being a bit generous to SCF with that view.
It isn't that KSC is "that great", rather than you and I seemingly disagreeing on your club's actual level again.
But then again, it is probably just the difference between an unbiased view of SCF and fully biased one.

yeah i figure it's only a matter of time until Bencik leaves.
I met him about a year ago and was always a big fan...Best of luck to him (unless he's playing against us) many fans will miss him.

Good words. FSV Frankfurt should be neck deep in the relegation battle this season, so Bencik may even move on again after the season.....
