Good luck to you guys! How far do you think you'll go in the UEFA cup?

I don't even want to think about that right now. Every opponent will be tough. Even this one. We never do well in the UEFA Cup, even when we make it to knockout stages, we stumble into them.

How many times have you played UEFA cup football in the last 10 years?

It looks like Hertha have failed to agree terms with Pantelic and he will leave 99%.

Yep shame really but at least we will have him for this year. He will be looking to impress someone out there and I hope he will be very instrumental for us :)

Anyone know where he's supposed to move? Stay in Germany? or a move to England, Spain, or Italy?

Think he will go to England. I know that Bolton, Everton, Man City were interested. Would love for him to go Everton, he'd be better than AJ an I could continue with my platonic love affair with him :D :D

The decision on Mineiro seems to be in its final stages...Mineiro wants to stay in Berlin and has rejected a contract from a Qatari club.

I hope we can re-sign him. I think he's a good player, and at 33, still got at least a year in him.

off the top of my head, 1 Champions League (98-99) and probably 6? UEFA Cup years.

I just read a rumor that if Mineiro leaves Hertha, you will be chasing after Ibson, who is owned by Porto, but has been playing for Flamengo on loan. In my case, I hope it's not true, because it will be hard to renew his loan if someone is willing to purchase him.

If you get Ibson, you will get a player that is much more talented than Mineiro. Ibson is definitely a player that should be in consideration for the Brazilian NT. He is a good marker, makes great runs with the ball, a playmaker at the DM/CM position, and a goal scorer. I'll be cheering for him if he goes.

He started his career at Flamengo and was very successful. He then transferred to Porto, where he started off well and got injuried. Their Brazilian coach then decided he doesn't fit into their style of play, whatever that means. After he recovered, we managed to get him back on loan and he was ONE, if not the BEST player of the Brazilian league last year. He struggled at the beginning of this year due to the rumors of his future, but has returned to his excellent form of last year as of late.

Yea Ibson has been the talk of the Berliner newspapers, along with Thiago Neves and Carlos Villanueva and Blerim Dzemaili. I like Mineiro though hes starting to fit into our system well, but if we get someone like Ibson who is better (at least according to you), then I'm all for it :)

That's exactly what Mineiro is, a system player. He is technically limited and a technically talented player like Ibson would be a huge upgrade IMO.

There are many rumors to that effect. I think Hertha has to be considering cashing in on him as his contact is up after this season and I don't think he's going to sign with Hertha again.

However, most clubs won't want to pay his market worth because the ones who can afford him can also afford to wait a season and sign him on a free.

I think Dieter Hoeness is stuck between a rock and a hard place on this one. Do you keep your captain for a possible UEFA Cup run? Even though you know you will most likely lose him after the season for nothing.

OR, do you cash in on him, possibly hurting your team's chances to go as far as it can in the UEFA Cup and possibly making enough money to offset any lost transfer fee anyhow??

It's really a "six in one, half a dozen in the other" scenario for Hertha.

As long as Friedrich has been at the club, I think I'd keep him for the UEFA Cup run. When a guy has served you for that long and he can help in a UEFA Cup run, your fans should understand letting him get away for nothing when he can help the club one last time.

I'll explain it this way. I was furious when BVB let Jan Koller get away for nothing simply because they thought we'd be relegated without him. We had nothing else to play for and we'd failed in the Intertoto Cup with him. He had all but come out and said he would not extend with us and they were still too cowardly to sell him. I think that showed the other team members that management had no confidence in them.

The difference in the Friedrich situation is that Hertha can get into the UEFA Cup and I think Hertha would be better served to keep Friedrich around than sell him this late.

If Hertha fails in the UEFA Cup before the winter transfer window, they can always try to sell him to a contender who could use him for a title run....... :o

Someone I know in berlin told me about friedrich possibly moving.

It's an interesting situation (especially from a NT point of view for me). I think hertha should keep him for the uefa cup run and like you said, sell him if they have failed by the winter break.

What clubs has he been rumoured to have got offers from? Roma?

Roma is an old rumor. The biggest ones right now involve Stuttgart.

Yea Stuttgart seem to like him as Meira seems to be out of favor?

Mineiro has quit Berlin, he looks set to join a Qatari club for a massive payday. Congrats I guess. I guess he saw the rumors for Villanueva, Ibson and Dzemaili and saw the writing on the wall.

Bilal Cubukcu has also left Hertha for Turkish side Genclerbirligi Ankara.

Is Valdivia out of the question? I heard Hertha was also interested in him but Palmeiras asked for too much...so they decided to try for the younger less experienced Villanueva for their creative midfielder.

Villanueva almost left for Real Sociedad, but since they failed to be promoted to La Liga, the cash didn't arrive, so Villanueva stayed in Audax...I think if Hertha makes half a decent offer he will jump to the chance of going to Europe...he has done all in the Chilean league, he needs new challenges and Hertha seems like a great option.
