I thought it would be nice to have a thread with links (or mentions)
of the best soccer writers and their work, and why you like it. I think
many sports journalists are hacks but there are a few, like Gabrielle
Marcotti and Simon Kuper, who are almost artists at what they do
and always make interesting points about the teams and players we
watch.

I'll get things started with this terrific article from Simon Kuper, one
of the best in the world and author of FOOTBALL AGAINST THE ENEMY.
It sheds interesting light on two of my all-time favorite players, Nesta
and Cannavaro.

What are your favorite sports pieces? Give a link and explain.

Martin Samuel is probably my faovurite columnist. Here's an article in which he details the strengths and qualities of Lampard. It's a good piece, and I'll admit it made me look at Lampard in a different light.

Uli Hesse-Lichtenberger is my favorite columnist. Even though he writes for soccernet, he's a seasoned and knowledgeable writer. He writes on German football and also wrote my favorite football-related book Tor.

Apart from shedding light on everything German football, he continuously dispells any silly myths about the National Team. Here's his archive.
