Uncalled for and immature. But ok...

Much easier to say that actually do. The World Cup comes once every four years, so it's not easy to just accept an elimination when it was mainly due to the ref.

Edit: Looking at your other posts, it is obvious that you are Korean or atleast identify yourself with their team. No wonder you are choosing to blind yourself from the truth. I am in no way, shape, or form biased regarding this match. I am not affiliated with Spain or South Korea at all, yet I know what the ref did was just wrong. Let me re-cap your memory:

Enough about this subject. This thread is based on the Olympics. I apologize to everyone for the last few non-related posts.
Enough is enough. The clip you attached is just one-sided, partial view. someone starts to flame and anger. What the f is the truth? You are trying to blind yourself from the truth. 2002 is already past and you must move on.

I also apologize everyone for worthless posts but someone starts to flame and troll and I had to take care of it.

If you are good enough to win and earn respect from others, then it is easy to accept that loss and look for revenge later.

You have got to be kidding me right??? Spain got screwed in that game no question. Those calls were atrocious, and you and every Korean know it. I am just speaking the truth. And if that happened to your team, you would also be furious.

Yeah, I gotta agree that Spain got it screwed in that game, but I'm not cetain it was because it was in Korea. I just think it was horrible officals making terrible calls. Either way there's really no argument from an unbiased standpoint that Spain got the shaft.

I thought both were games were pretty brutal... though I have no sympathy for the Italians -- just desserts if you ask me.

For what?

For diving their way through every competition in their life. For once, it was a riot to see them get absolutely mauled... roll around on the ground for added drama... and still not get the call. :D

Group B looks the strongest if u ask me, but U23 squads are hard to judge over.

This is ridiculous. I go through the effort of looking up a slew of past youth cups, and this thread turns into a stupid pissing match over unprovable allegations (referee bias).

Can you guys just stop that crap, or take it to PMs? Stop killing this thread.

locoxriver, i know what you mean, but i'm thinking that when you are the ref of a 50,000 stadium all favoring the home crowd, it must be hard not to let that affect you professional or not.

my point is, host has such powers. for example, will those people playing in China be used to the sheer air pollution? Even in World Cup, there is a very clear correlation between the continent where the competition is held and who wins the competition. Brazil is practically the only country that can trully kick @ss in any venue, but even they are affected by it.

I've seen countries like Malaysia and Vietnam do really well in the Asian Cup, simply as they host the thing. Visiting teams often complained about poor quality of practice turfs... Inadequate organization in lodging... etc etc.

Group B looks really tough. Both the Dutch and Nigerians displayed considerable speed and attacking maneuverability. That neither scored may be testimony to their defensive strength. Bradley is ponderous compared to either the Dutch or Nigerian midfield...he will get worked.

I concur. I have no affiliation with Spain or S Korea either and i must say - Spain was robbed!

Hell, I'll say it, in 2002, the US was robbed from a penalty v German and I"M GERMAN!!!! South Korea played rough v Italy and well, they scored and Italy didn't - but v Spain; poor refs ripped Spain off - BIG TIME!!!

Wrong. These aren't refs that were just selected out of a hat. These refs are what FIFA consideres to be the top professionals in this game. Out of the thousands - They are not amateurs and cannot allow a home crowd to influence the desicion of a WC game. Maybe you and I or some Coca Cola League ref might, but not these selected few whcih are supposed to be the "Crème de la Crème".

EDIT: Sorry for the OT!!!!

In addition to which, a good many of these refs do games with 20k or more in attendance regularly. For this anecdotal evidence there really isn't much difference between a 20k and 50k crowd. Both will be deafening and demanding... but at this juncture the officials should be accustomed to that environment and not allow it to phase them.

Italy had three goals not called. So they did score, the referee just didn't agree.

The referee of the South Korea vs. Italy match, Byron Moreno, got a legendary status in Italy. I would say he is the only not Italian referee whose name is known to people on the street.

And Italian players = divers, how old stereotype is that? I see more diving in some Premier League matches

Sorry for the off topic.

That was Spain! If I am wrong, please show a link or some footage on the three disallowed goals!

Byron Moreno was an ass but his problem was that he just let the game go and it got out of control. Both teams played equally rough and though Totti's dive could have gone the way - it didn't, and thats football.

Ok, let's be more clear. Tommasi had one disallowed goal in that match, the other two (at least) were in previous matches.

Byron Moreno was an ass but his problem was that he just let the game go and it got out of control. Both teams played equally rough and though Totti's dive could have gone the way - it didn't, and thats football.
I wouldn't say so. This was as unidirectional a refereeing as possible.

I must say, and I apologize for this, that I was happy Spain got the same treatment. All the days between Italy - Corea and Spain - Corea Spanish newspapers laughed at Italy and Italians' excuses about refereeing etc. After the latter match they realized that Italians weren't so wrong after all...

crimerz... actually i'm rather sympathetic towards the Italians and Spaniards in regard to 2002. and I'm korean.

but regarding so-called... "Crème de la Crème". they seemed to have screwed up in the tournament... was it foul play? or did he just eat a bad piece of chicken that day? I don't know... I never played football nor reffed... I'm just trying to figure out why the error occurred...

I think we will always wonder why they blew it...but we'll never get an answer.
