Looks like the Welsh FA aren't to pleased with the crowd trouble. They've lodged a complaint with UEFA.

Maybe they should take a look at how some of their fans acted as well.

It's unlikely that the Welsh fans did anything (even if they wanted to) since they were at the bottom section. And I didn't notice anything flying onto the field from their section either! Even if they did do something, it would be justified after being on the receiving end of urine-bombs!

It's a good thing European teams never have to qualify in Central America, like the US does.
Urine bombs? That's NOTHING compared to what the US team and fans have to endure.

What Wales should be complaining about is their pathetric play- Outscored 12-1 by both National teams. A total humiliation

Did you even watch the game? If you did you would have seen the tv shots of Welsh fans throwing stuff at the police. You would have seen the Welsh fans cursing at them and antagonizing them.
I'm not excusing the Italian fans by any means. My only thing is that people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

I wasn't talking about the most recent US v Mexico game so I don't know where you got urine bombs from. Care to provide a link?

Yeah, I watched the game. Thanx! Due to the fact that there was probably a language barrier between the Welsh fans and Italian policemen, sign-language had to be used. So that helped us see that it was clear that the Welsh fans were trying to tell the police that things were being thrown at them from above (they were pointing at their heads and then pointing above at the Italian fans - they were not antagonizing the police). The police probably did nothing about this, so obviously the fans took their frustration out on the police as any group of fans would.

How about the link you provided! It said "missiles and urine" were thrown on the Welsh supporters.

Hmm, interesting. They've changed the article a bit since it was first posted.

The behaviour of the Italians was abysmal. The police in most of southern europe will never do anything to protect away fans other than hit them with batons.
We can have no complaints about what went on on the pitch, but you expect more from a country such as Italy. If this had happeneed at an England game they would have been ejected from the tournament (not that Italy should be) whereas I'm sure very little will be done to punish the Italians. FIFA seems to look more harshly on fans coming on to the pitch than it does on the throwing of missiles or even of actual bombs.

"Expect more from a country such as Italy"? Really? This sort of behavior seems to happen in Italian league games all the time. How can you forget the classic image of a motorscooter being thrown from the upper deck of the San Siro? I think it was one of Inter's UEFA Cup games, so at least the lower levels were empty. But still...

I know, it's just that you expect the supporters of a team that is winning 4-0 to be slightly less aggressive. The bomb at fiorentina a few years back was the worst though.

Yeah, I almost mentioned that one. And it wasn't even in Florence, it was in Salerno because they'd already been banned from their own stadium. I believe the Fiorentina fans have always claimed it was a local Salernitana fan who threw that bomb but it didn't prevent them from getting tossed from the UEFA Cup.

you guys are totally right.
im embarased to be italian reading about what happened.
im also honest enough to admit that if it was england, people would be all over them, including FIFFA, and i know italians would be leading the charge if english fans had been doing that stuff to them.
the thing is, milan and lazio are both infamous for this type of behaviour.
so are other nations big club teams, but within italy, this is sickening.
the police need to clean up their *#*#*#*# and take some control. sadly much of italy's institutions that exercise authority are bogged down in apathy and corruption... but thats a story for the polical rants!!
(and the fascist salut is nothing new, speaking as a northerner, they are defianatley more sympathetic to that old style authoritative rule and semi-socialistic type extremism becuase they are so embittered about being the rich north supporting a poor south. but thats just my impression, any milanese out there agree or no?)

cheers toronto for agreeing
just to clarify, I was there and it was sickening
how italia fans can say wales started trouble is incredible
the trouble that started was when welsh families asked to leave as they were tired of being pelted with *#*#*#*# (amongst other stuff) and the fascist police wouldnt let them
whats sad is i have seen wales in much much less economically deprived nations than italy and alwys recieved a friendly welcome.
nothing to do with being beaten at home by a country 1/20 italys size of course
I plan never to go to italy again
rant ends
